Teacher and cell phone

I just found out my nieces' summer school teacher was doing prank phone calls from his cell phone for the amusement of the kids. My nieces are 10 and 8. Should I report this?

I believe both do have bluetooth but I never learned to use it. I will check it out. owbist; I always forget about youtube. However, I didn't see anything useful in your list. Remember, I had essentially succeeded in making a sim card transfe, but the data was not complete. The one on point post from your list also indicated incomplete data fields. I actually found that my transfer was worse than I originally thought. It only transferred the contact name and lost both the fact that the next contact was identical and thus a subset, but also lost any indication of the type of phone (work, home etc) and listed ALL entries as 'mobile'.

Every families situations are different. Ath the time my daughter was age 6 and son age 9 they had to travel by plane to their father's for visitation. I gave them both a cell phone with my number and their dad's numbers pre-programmed so if there was ever a problem, they knew how to use the phone. A six year old 'DOES' know how to use a phone if taught correctly. They never abused the phone or lost them. But they sure knew how to use them if ever the need. In these days with our children being abducted everyday, I think it is wise for children (even as young as 5) to have a cell phone that is on. So if they ever did get nabbed, they could at least be traced by the phone. There are ways you can keep the phones on and in their back-packs at school. As long as they are for emergency use only. I believe like my children, if you teach them how to use it and it is only for emergency use, then they will abide by it. And, yes Verizon has a great child one that can be only programmed by the parent. Better to be safe than sorry. My children are now 16 and 19 and still travel to see their father and always have their cell phones with them. It makes me feel safer and when they touch down in the airport they call me and when they see their dad and they are with him, they call me. I never have to worry.

It depends on the phone and the carriers. There's a number of different types of service out there too. For instance different carriers use different frequencies (CDMA, PCS, GSM, etc) SIM cards are suggestive of GSM technology used by Tmo and ATT. If you're looking to use prepaid service you can sometimes use the phones but won't always have all the features. If you're looking for a contract service, then as cautioned before, beware of costs to change. Often the smallest thing will extend your contract. For instance, if you get a new phone, you generally get a new (extended) contract with hefty cancellation fees. You'll have to get more info from the companies, but generally speaking, Tmo will not be interchangeable with Virgin and Verizon. Tmo & AT&T are more likely to be options. Probably not answering your question, but not an easy question to answer!

You want spoiled....read this. Our department provides laptops for our students to borrow for a week at a time. They come with a wireless mouse and a flashdrive. I have a student who borrowed the laptop and left the flashdrive in the library. The library called to let me know and I retrieved it. She came in and didn't apologize for losing it. Well, I let her borrow the laptop for another week and she again left the flashdrive in our computer lab. But this time some one walked off with it. She called and told me the day before the laptop was due back. I told her she would have to pay for the flashdrive and replace it. After being quite snotty (again with no apologies) she replaced the flashdrive. I then told her that her privilages were suspended for a month and she again got snotty. My boss finally told her that borrowing a laptop was a PRIVILAGE and not a RIGHT! My point is that she didn't care that she lost the flashdrive twice and she feels she is entitled to borrow the laptop. SamKaren your resident DJ

Was he calling people he knew? Probably. Lighten up. They were probably just having some fun. They are in summer school for crying out loud. They have got to find happiness somehow.

How would you like it if you worked with a bunch of mentally underdeveloped people who were chronic exaggerators (children in other words) and whatever they said, other people believed it and reported it straight to your boss?

If you are upset, talk to the TEACHER first. Treat the man with some respect. You would expect as much from him.

Talk to the teacher... See what was actually taking place...Don't just jump to some quick conclusion.. Find out what learning is taking place.. Get you facts then go from there.. Either pursue or drop it...

Anita and Gardenboy are right in my opinion...you should give the teacher the respect he deserves and approach him before reporting the incident, wouldn't you want (and deserve?) the same treatment yourself?

I'll bet he didn't actually dial any numbers. But I do agree that I would not report him without first discussing with him.

I also agree, discuss it with the teacher first. I also agree that he shouldn't be making crank calls, especially with the kids watching (if that's what he was doing).
