Really cute teacher gift idea!
Comments (6)That is a cute idea! I agree that some schools and other workplaces, can make it so hard these days to add personal warmth to a classroom or office. Because so many of my close friends are teachers, I heard early on to avoid anything that says "teacher" on it. My bestfriend had a large box filled with "teacher" ornaments, mugs, suncatchers, etc. Gift cards are much appreciated, though. A heartfelt letter is another special, treasured gift. Along those lines, my friend who's a grade school counselor joked one day years ago, that while teachers are always remembered, she'd only gotten two gifts her entire career. After that, I've always made sure that I gave our own school counselor and my DD's bus driver a small gift at Christmas and at the end of the school year. Lynn...See MoreNeed Ideas for teacher gifts
Comments (6)What about some Irish Dew - a bottle/can of Mountain Dew with the following poem on a tag: I ran into a leprechaun And asked if he'd been told Where the rainbow ended With the treasured pot of gold. He didn't know, but then gave me A special Irish brew (dew) To brighten your St. Paddy's Day I'm sharing some with you! OR..... Sit right down I have something for you, Here's a green bottle of very good brew. (of special Irish Dew) It's not a clover or rainbow or gold, Just a great drink, or so I've been told! (or a magical drink) author unknown or - take a small terra cotta pot and spray paint it gold (pot of gold) and put a roll of lifesavers in it standing up(the rainbow) and wrap with tulle and tie with a nice green ribbon and a tag wishing a Happy St. Pat's Day. Have fun! Lorraine...See MoreSpecial Ed Teacher/School gifts
Comments (7)That's going to get real expensive, really fast. My nephew is special needs. Here's what my SIL does. A gift card to the classroom teacher, usually to someplace the teacher can get classroom supplies. For everyone else, the one-on-one aide, the home nurses, the bus diver and aide, the therapists--she has my nephew make a card or a pencil holder or cookies or something else as gifts. My nephew's in fifth grade now and has a teacher, a teacher's aide, his own one-on-one aide, the bus driver, the bus aide, five different home nurses, physical therapists--home and school, occupational therapists--home and school, speech therapist, music therapist, two swim therapists (I don't know what they are really called, but they've worked some miracle and he can now swim unassisted), 11 doctors, the brace maker, the wheelchair guy, the mobility specialist and probably a few other people I'm forgetting. In your case, I'd give $25 gift cards to the teacher and the therapists. Then I'd give some sort of gift basket to the classroom--the teacher and the aides--something that they can easily split up amongst them. Cards for everyone else, handmade if your son can do that, or at least signed by him however he signs his name at this time. If you don't feel the card is enough, you can include a little thank you note of your own, thanking them for all the progress your son has made under their care. If you haven't had contact with someone, there's no need to give them anything at the holidays. I'm sure they won't be expecting it. (The nurse, the liaison.) Comments (8)I would think twice about spending that kind of money on a mug for a teacher. I know many teachers, both elementary and secondary, and all of them say that they receive too many mugs at Christmas. One teacher I know received 5 from her students one year. A much more appreciated gift would be a gift certificate to Office Depot or a teacher store or a book store. A Catholic High School where one of my children went had a school wide collection for the teacher's Christmas gift. The money was totaled up and every employee from the principal to the part time janitor received some money -- all an equal amount. It was done by the PTA. The teacher's loved it. Another school had the room mom take up a collection, and the teacher received a very nice gift certificate to the mall. She was thrilled!...See Moretrekaren
