Help - Rube Goldburg project ideas for special needs student

Posted by Budster (My Page) on

Does anyone have any ideas? I am running out of creative juices and as the child concerned is special needs the project cannot be too complex. Parents are allowed to help and we are just looking for some easier ideas for a base to use as a springboard. Anyone able to help us? Thank you.

How old is the child - age wise & developmentally? What class is this project for? Did the teacher give a list of suggestions?

A 13 year old, developmentally Grade 5.....science class....and no guidelines....just help the student do a project...no suggestions....just the usual Rube Goldburg thing...make a complex machine to do a simple project. I'm really struggling...can't be too complex or what will my child be getting from all this....getting stressed as we discard our own creative thoughts.....help!

I did a search & found the site below. You can order blueprints for $6 each, or one might give you an idea for something to do.

BTW, one I liked was "how much weight can a helium balloon lift?"

Let us know what you end up doing!

Good Luck!
