I totally agree with MacT and its why I've been refusing to let anyone scan my DL which you are allowed to do! Just insist! On the occasion I do that and grab a bottle of wine they always ask for my license, The first time over a year ago, she took it and swiped, I asked her right away, why cant you just look at it and see I'm WAY old enough?? She couldnt answer. Well as an experiment I went back the next week and did the same thing, only this time when she asked for my license, I said you can look at it but you may not swipe it. She said I have to, I said NO you dont. All you need to do is verify my age, and in over 20 years that used to be done with your eyes,m NOT a computer scanner. She called over the manager, and to my surprise, the manager keyed something in, and she politely gave me back my license. THere was some sort of note the pc generated on my receipt. Apparently you CAN refuse to let them scan, just insist. You need not put your items back on the shelf. I just did it again today, and of course there are people behind who sigh, because I am stubborn about not letting htem HARVEST my information off scanning my id. But I assured them, one day you'll thank me:) SO, let them check your id, and dont let them scan it. Make them call someone over. This happens alot more than you think, thats why they have a special code they punch in. Its an infringement of privacy and not necessary. Have a great weekend! Niki"

What a waste! But I guess he's gotta do it! I know when my kids moved from ND to Ia I think they only gave 30 days to get everything changed over? I could be wrong, but that had to be vehicle and drivers licenses!

the license I got in 2005 was disgusting...We were moving that day and the temp was 104...I realized at 345 my license was expiring that day so ran over there and because they made me wait longer than 30 minutes I got it free and got a 10 year license...no makeup, sweating, it was AWFUL and they wouldn't let me take another picture. I was so relieved last year when I could get a new license...I had makeup on, my hair was done and I was ready...I barely had a smile as they don't want a full out smile, (same with passport pics, they sent my first one back and made me redo pictures!) I'm ok with both, at least they resemble me!

I am, obviously, in Ohio. I got m EDL last year, in April. I do have a passport, but I took EVERYTHING that was listed, including the registrars copy of our marriage license, NOT the fancy church one, as it instructs us. I had everything in a manila envelope. The lady only looked at a few things, but mainly used the passport. Then was required to have someone else come and verify her work. DON'T assume that a passport alone will be enough. My DH's was refused. And he had to have verification of most everything also. He went the next day to a different office, and they accepted his passport. I asked why it hadn't been accepted at the office I went to, and the explanation was that if anything had been keyed in wrong, they couldn't change it, that it would kick it out of the system for 24 hours. I asked both people who helped me, separately, and got the same answer. My girlfriend has been widowed twice and divorced once. She had to find all of the documentation from all of them. I do not plan to fly again, but can still be called for jury duty to a federal building, and you never know, I may have to fly again, even if I don't want to. At some point, I will probably let my passport expire, but who knows. I need to check and see when it expires!
