I agree with Jim that the Austrians would have been too broad. They probably would have overwhelmed the area eventually. Glad you like my idea, Rick, but I can't guaranty that it will get you around zoning. While it's technically not a fence, gov't reps. may insist that it follow all the same restrictions. Much of that sort of thing depends on what neighbors think of your creation. Complaints draw attention. If you make it beautiful and receive only praise, then you can probably get away with making it a little higher than a fence. PROBABLY. But be prepared to adjust to compliance. There are different honeysuckles. I also don't know where you are so don't know what will work well for you. Some honeysuckles tend to cling to upward portions of their support and don't maintain much growth at lower levels. There are lots of vines to choose from. Take a look at Bignonia 'Tangerine Beauty' or some of the non-hybrid clematis. Some of those are pretty tough.

And thank you to all who gave options instead of buying yet another template. $$ is why I didn't buy one the first time I saw it! - I'd much prefer spending my hard-earned dollars on FABRICS!! I've checked out all the other sites you've all mentioned & any one of them will work just fine. Now I can't wait to finish up a few more birthday swap blocks so I can justify beginning a new project! LOL Especially since I told myself no more new projects until you finish at least 3 WIPs!! Oh well, rules like resolutions were made to be broken, right??! Or is that resolutions, like rules... Either way, the end result is the same! :) I'm cheating on my vow to myself that I would get to some of these WIPs :) But this winter has been so long...I need a new 'spring-y' project! Like a wonky pinwheel table cover:) Sharon, I'm w/you on the TOTs---all the wild prints in some of the samples were just too busy for my tired eyes! Where in those crazy patterns is the eye supposed to rest? I was always taught you need a place for the eye to rest somewhere in a quilt. The ideal glazing will transmit light well, yet not transmit thermal infrared, the wavelengths at which the solar energy absorbed in the greenhouse is reemitted. The ideal glazing will also have a high R-value, will be inexpensive, and will last a long time. The most common types of glazing are glass, polycarbonate, and polyethylene films. Glass, the original glazing, is the longest lasting of the glazings (in the absence of large hail), particularly if the glass is tempered. It is expensive relative to other glazings. It transmits light very well, yet it is opaque to thermal IR. Glass does not diffuse light very well and may result in shadowing and plant burn. It is more difficult to work with and in fact tempered glass cannot be cut at all. Single pane glass has an R-value of about 0.8. Polycarbonate (PC) generally comes in twinwall or even triplewall sheets in thicknesses from 4 to 16mm. It is easy to cut. Twinwall PC has an R-value of about 1.4, and triplewall PC has an R-value of 2.5. PC has a high degree of light transmittance and low thermal IR transmittance. Light is diffused with PC, lowering the risk of foliage burn. PC lasts 10-20 years. Polyethylene (PE) films are relatively inexpensive and are the easiest with which to work. Single layer of PE film has an R-value of about 0.8 but and inflated, double layer PE glazing has an R-value of about 1.4. Light is transmitted and diffused well, but plain PE film is not opaque to thermal infrared wavelengths. Therefore radiation energy losses at night can be greater with PE films than with other glazings. PE with infrared additives are available, and these films reduce heat loss by about 20% compared to plain PE films. The lifespan of PE films is generally felt to be about 3-4 years.
