Black. Its more period and no matter what you do in the future will always look good. Dark sashes improve the appearance of the windows as negative space on the facade. Black interior sashes also practically disappear when you look out the window (try it - look out a white framed window and a black framed window - see which one you notice and which one is practically not there.) Finally, white tends to look cheap - vinyl-looking, as you said. And why let a vinyl window company decide what color your windows are for you? I got a feeling youll get white from the way your post was written ...

Lov_mykitchen, I KNOW!!! Was supposed to get above zero every day for the past week. Get 15 miles south of us and water is running everywhere, but here?!! Today was the first day it actually got above 0, and that was to plus 1C. I could live with that if the sun shone, but it has been overcast the whole time as well, making everything look like it is in black and white. I hate it when the sun doesn't shine. OP, sorry for potentially derailing your thread but I have a question I really wanted to ask for a while. I have a disclaimer first. I do not have any education in architecture and I am not a visual artist of any kind so I do not have trained eye for those things. Here is the question: why in order to have well designed and attractive house we need to hide garage doors ( and televisions, and refrigerators, etc.). Why "there is nothing attractive about garage doors"? I get it if you are building house that recreates architectural style from an era when those things did not exists. But for more modern styles, what's wrong with them? The brick is very limiting. I wonder if it was original. It seems out of character. I agree with you that traditional Victorian colors aren't going to work with the brick. In any case, I would just go two shades lighter with the trim color. The contrast with the white is too much now and the overall effect is very dark and unwelcoming. Then see how that looks with the small amount of siding (unless there's more of it on the other sides of the house). Does the brick need to be power washed? In the pictures it doesn't look like the same color everywhere.
