Hi Melissa, I can't comment on the OGR's since I don't grow any of the varieties you mentioned. But I am happy for you that you are growing them, and your garden plans sound great! I too ordered several roses from Lottum. I have to say the sloppy way they were packaged was a disappointment, and shipping to Malta was very slow. But this was right before Christmas so hopefully yours will arrive faster. In the end all of my Lottum roses are happily growing in their pots with no problems, so although it was a bit scary, I will probably order from them again next year. Their prices are hard to beat and the roses are strong. I love the plants you will be using as a hedge! Rosemary is so much more than a windowsill kitchen herb. I let mine grow as big as they want on the roof and right now they are covered in flowers that remind me of tiny orchids. Shrub germander and Mexican sage are wonderful too! Great choices! We've had very similar weather to yours this winter: torrential rain in November then almost nothing in December, January was totally dry and so far not a drop of rain in February. It is already 17 degrees here and I am honestly dreading the summer and how hot it's going to get this year. Off topic: As far as I'm aware, most rose trials tend to test for cold hardiness and disease resistance, but I wish there was something like an ADR for extreme heat and drought tolerance in rose varieties. Is there such a thing?

Julia: The pink flower is Lythrum: cultivar 'Morden's Pink'. Now almost totally banned from commerce in the US because the species Lythrum invades the wetlands in Minnesota and other northern states. This is not the species nor the wetlands and has never spread in the 30 + years I've grown it....Nancy/Debra: RE: Cactus Jack. I don't usually like eyed daylilies, but as you all noted the extra large size of the eye, along with the matching dark edge and cantaloupe base color, shouted "buy me" and, on impulse, I did just that. Once I got it home I found out it's an evergreen, so we will see if it survives my winters (or my hot summers in the sun)...........Sherry: It does get a little maddening when your eye can see a glorious color but the camera can't capture it. Happens to the best of us unfortunately.......Kate: Rudy's Sister just glows. You know I'm not much for UF's and greeny/lemon yellow is not my usual favorite shade, but the hybridizer and I agree that I will continue to grow Rudy's Sister to see if she's worth introduction. She did so well in 92 degree heat, with no loss of color or petal substance (like Rudy which also did well in the heat) that I'm hoping she will continue to improve. A sunfast/colorfast daylily is always interesting for we heat sufferers............Maryl

Funny! Dh got a call this morning from a former colleague from the London office of dh's previous employer. They were mostly talking about work related stuff but the colleague made a joke to DH along the same lines as that tweet. I'd guess British social media is expressing similar memes/tweets today!
