Hi all....I am trying to make a dvd to capture a video from an old jvc camcorder. It is on a mini dv cassette. I don't know where to begin & checking on the internet I read about a capture card. Would that work? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That's exactly what you need, although many are no longer "cards" but use a USB port. Currently Pinnacle offers the Dazzle product and Hauppauge has the Live2. There may be older products still on the market as well. They should include software to edit the movie and create a DVD. You might also want to look at eBay or Craigslist for used cards as well. Depending on how many videos you want to convert, it may be easier to pay someone to do it for you.

I used a PYRO A/V link converter to feed my old camcorder tapes into my computer to put into my PhotoStory software program I make slides and movies with to burn on a DVD.
