See Dfic 23 at UC Davis. It is the only Ficus Palmata/Ficus Carica Hybrid. Take note of the OBSERVATION. It will SAy:Leaflobe:ENTIRE It is the only ficus palmata hybrid fethered and the only one with entire leaf.Here is a picture of the original wild fig ,ficus palmata.This fig escaped in the wild in California and it will freely crose with ficus Carica where the fig wasp is present. I agree with Ingevald that "the" Sanford is a "caprifig" from UCD. Actually there are S.1,2,3... variants. I recenlty got one (unreqested) single twig (less the #) - it rooted, and may I just to add, it it quite hardy. My only interst in caprifigs is "just" to re-understand their fruiting behaviour - no fig wasps here - I did use them before in my old place - per the advice of my mum. Had also tried to-hard-to-root some of the "edible" and more useful caprifigs; not sure, but I think I got one... Good luck with your vendor's patenting the S.(common) fig name (enough fig confusion already exists).

Thanks, Jose, I like your process. I have less space than you. I have about 20 trees to plant. So, what I may do is plant each row 7 feet apart and space each 6.5 feet in each row. My wife has some azalaes planted and I may have to plant around them. Plus my trees will be on a small hill with partial shade. I also have a rain barrel but nothing as large as yours. I found some additional space in my back yard but I its partially wooded and my neighbour never mows it. So, what I may do it trim his trees and bush hog the area and place more trees in there. I think I can get 5 more trees in that space. Thanks for postings, you gave me some ideas. It makes sense planting these in rows and also build a drip irrigation system too. I now have all the parts to build it but it is crazy hot outside! So,I am planning and designing now and will start planting the trees this Fall. thanks again, Dennis
