John, Your solution sounds simple; but is it solving a problem or just per longing one? If ARS wants judges to abide by this solution they should say so, and than all judges will be using the same procedure when judging. You have to question is it fair to all exhibitors or even in accordance with what the Guidelines mandates? For an example, take a challenge class that specifies three floribundas sprays, all different varieties. With overall appearance being a prime element in judging challenge classes and carries with it an extra 30 points. This includes a pleasing color combination, uniformity of bloom form and degree of openness. Showing three Hannah Gordons etc. all from the same plant, calling one "Hannah Gordon", one "Raspberry Ice" and one "Nicole". More likely assures you of winning with this combination, than a collection of three floribundas sprays all of different varieties as the challenge called for. Is would more likely be the winning challenge, but is this fair to other exhibitors in the challenge class? Because an exhibitor received a rose from a nursery called "Tabris", entering it under that name as suggested. Is not in compliance with the latest ARS "AEN" publication, using only the official approved exhibition name, "Raspberry Ice". Ron Schwerdt

Welcome Jen! FlutteringBy did a great job on answering your questions. I am not familiar with Photo Shop Elements either. I did try Photo Shop and found the learning curve much higher than PSP and seemed to do most of the same things. I prefer PSPX, it is what I am used to now. I did the trial of PSPXI but didn't see enough difference between that or X. So I don't feel the need to upgrade. I think you probably would benefit by updating to at least X as a lot of the tuts are now being written for PSPX. Not that they can't be done in earlier versions, it just makes it easier to follow if you have a more recent version and the newer ones have more features. Just don't un-install PSP7 as the newest PSP's do not come with animation shop. And you may still want to use PSP 7 for some things. It does load quicker than PSPX. I still have 7,9 and PSPX installed. One good way to find tut sites is to check the posts, I as do most others here list the site that they came from and you can just go to the bottom of the tut (in most cases) and find the index or home page of the author for the rest of the tuts. Depending what type of tubes you are looking for I have several tube sites that I just couldn't do without. Let me know and I will send you some. Carol

Note: There is a PSPX Update on the Corel site, for those that already have PSPX. Update Carol, I don't know how much help I will be. Each of us uses PSP for different types of projects and that makes a difference in our needs. It doesn't have Animation 3 with it. You have to have a previous version or (I guess) buy Animation separate. My first PSP was 7. When 8 came out, I updated to 8. When 9 came out, I updated to 9. Now, I have PSPX. As I updated, I never went back, each new version had additional new effects and/or tools. So far I like PSPX, I haven't had any trouble with it. I have all three versions on my puter and they live happily together. The only reason I keep all of then is, if I'm helping some one, I need them to remember where things are in each version. The first thing I do when I install a new version is, take the time to customize the new version. I put the tools and Icons in the same place as the previous version so that I don't have to hunt, it takes time but it's worth the extra time. I just finished doing that with PSPX, every thing is in the same place as PSP9. Other than the new effects, I can't even tell the difference between 9 and X. After I customize, I save the the new workspace and name it custom1. When I do have a problem all I have to do is go to File/Workspace and reload and it corrects the problem. As time goes by there will be less tutorials and certainly no updates for the previous versions, especially PSP7. The bottom line is, I'm happy with PSPX. It has some new features, and it loads faster than the previous versions. Hope this helps... Joy

Thank you for you wonderfully kind thoughts. Good idea, Tina, to try and get back once more and by myself. I'll definitely think seriously about that. Although we had a wonderful 10 day visit with my parents and family, both the flights there and back were absolute nightmares. Outbound, baggage was so unusually incredibly slow that, despite getting there at the recommended time, we missed our flight. So instead of departing at 6:30AM and arriving in Detroit at (approx.) 3:20PM with a stopover in Denver, we had a 3 hour delay in Albuquerque, then a flight to Las Vegas. A 4-hour wait there before a flight to Atlanta. Another wait there and then a flight to Detroit. We arrived around 12:30AM and after picking up our rental car and baggage, arrived at my sister's home at 2:20AM. Ugh!!! On the flight back, we were so paranoid about baggage check-in, we arrived 3 hours early . . . only to be told that our flight had just been cancelled! DH had a full schedule of patients booked the next day and was able to get the last seat on a flight that got him home here around 12:30AM the next day. The airlines sent DD & I to a hotel for the night and we were booked on the 6:35AM flight out that next morning. The hotel shuttle picked us up and delivered us to the worst hotel I've ever been in in my entire life. It looked perfectly fine from the outside, although more like a souped up motel with a big, new entrance.Three guys lounging in the lobby looked like pimps. They were obviously not guests. The room was dark, dirty and dank. My daughter's bed looked like it had a large area of dried urine on the top sheet. The table and nightstands were greasy. And one entire wall of the room was a plate glass window that looked out onto the deserted hallway. There was a heavy, dark, dusty, rubber-backed curtain across the wall, but would not close all the way. That was the only window in the room. The door locks did not work properly and we could easily hear the tv in the next room. We were out of there quickly, with me in tears by then, calling a nearby hotel and begging them to come and rescue us. They did and had their shuttle there within 5 minutes (bless them!). As our new shuttle driver was loading up our baggage, 3 very emaciated, disheveled young persons (early twenties), 2 of which had the black front teeth of major drug users and were obviously on some kind of drugs then, were holding on to each other , weaving into the hotel as we sat in the van watching them! Our driver just shook his head and said that "they should shut this place down"! I am not going to mention the airlines or the "hotel", as I'm already in discussions with the airlines CEO about it. As for the "hotel", his people are looking into that as well. I had nightmares for 5 days straight about that place! Soooo, that's my long, and hopefully somewhat entertaining saga about our trip last month. I'm still thinking about flying back again later this Summer . . . but probably on tranquilizers! (Edited for typos and to add:) And when we finally arrived back home here, I found a couple live bedbugs in the outside pocket of my suitcase! That was an additional nightmare I had to deal with for days after.
