What the TOS says to me (and this is my personal interpretation): If I post anything, including my name/username, my exchange list, my photos and some 'personal website' I create on "My Page" here as well as entries to any Forum, iVillage can use it and I cannot expect to be paid for such use. They can quote me. They can move my photo from some gallery to some other spot. I can still sell my own work to somebody else, if it were that good. So could they. If I post somebody else's work, I am telling iVillage that I have a right to it and they can use it. If the real owner comes forward to claim ownership and demand pay, iV believes Real Owner should sue me, not iV because I implied I had a right to it, which right I gave to iV when I posted it. Anybody who copies my prattle, photos, et al here may use it for pleasure with iV's blessing, but not for gain. You can't put my personal Daylily photo on your e-bay site without permission but you can put my dog's photo on your personal website because he's cute -- as long as you aren't using his picture to promote some homemade dog biscuits you're selling. You can quote my funny story in your family newsletter, but not sell it to Reader's Digest. IMHO, that's what the TOS means to say. Now, here's my real question: If we post to this new gallery, can we then link to it using 'img src=' the way we use photohosting sites now to put said photo in our posts? It'll be a certain amount of fingers crossed for the rest of this winter and throughout the summer. The mix couldn't be improved to absolute perfection, time & money preclude that. So it's like the best 4 star insurance. I can't stop it raining or cover all the pots so that will have to be; drought is more manageable but the risk of overwatering in the event won't be more dangerous than the rain. Rapid drying out of the top few inches could catch me out, the containers are already mulched well for frost so that will work out. Monitoring the weather for a hot spring (again) will be important. I can water everything in 20 mins before work so no excuse to be caught out. I see no reason to be pessimistic, the possible loss of one or two fussy ones will always make gaps that don't stay gaps long ; )

Your line about "who makes the cut" has really struck a nerve with me. Let me explain. I have the strong opinion that you can do whatever you want with the photos (ie. "who makes the cut"). What you see and how you feel from the displays is all you. A display with a topic theme, color theme, or whatever theme is going to be fabulous as long as you go with your heart and your gut. I had a terrible MIL (EX now!) who actually took the time to inventory WHO was displayed in photos, HOW they were displayed, and concocted her own storylines on why I elected to leave out certain people, include others, and have some more prominent than others. She had the gall to have "sit-down talks" with me several times about my choices in displayed photos. She started sending photos with little post-it notes on where they would "look nice" & which one's I should change out. It gnawed at her to no end that I changed nothing despite her passive-aggressive instructions. I hope your family and/or friends are not the likes of the old hag I used to deal with. You should never, EVER have to explain the reasonings (themes, etc) of photos and why you display what you do. Don't want to bring a downer to this & hope I'm not making you think harder into it. This just brought back some bad memories and it's really too bad it had to go that way. End of therapeutic vent. Gayle
