I've have a 'Mardi Gras' ... bought it from Florida Colors. It finally developed an inflo last fall, and then promptly shriveled up and fell off as the days were already too short and cool for it to develop. This will be the third summer I have had it. I was outside tonite watering plants and was pleased to see another inflo developing on it! Am hoping this will be the year I finally have flowers! And what flowers they are from what your photo shows! What's the fragrance like on it?

My cousins marched today. Near Biloxi. Daddy came over today. We had our gumbo for lunch. It was lower spices for my step mom. Once they left, I added the remaining spices, added more stock, and cooked longer. Already better, can't imagine how goes it'll be tomorrow, but I'd guess fantastic. Looking forward to it.

Aeonium are summer dormant, so mine are just starting to grow again. I don;t think Leaf and Clay sells cuttings, I would send them photos and ask for a replacement. That said, your MG will likely root, since it's growing season is juts starting, but do not water until you see roots. Make sure the stem is in the dark, like under pumice or perlite, and leave dry for about 10 days, then check for roots every 8-10 days. Once you have good roots move to good soil and water.

We here in the Tampa Bay Area have what's called the Gasparilla Pirate Festival which includes a parade in late January. (It's mainly a money-making thing for all the snowbirds that are still here.) It's been going on for over a century. When I was a kid my grandma lived on a street that the parade went down and we saw it for several years in a row. But when my son got to be old enough to know what was going on I took him and couldn't believe what was going on. I vowed not to take him back. People were acting as if it was Mardi Gras and I'm talking broad daylight flashing and heavy drinking/drug activity. They finally started having a separate parade day for the children because a lot of families refused to go anymore. So I don't have anything against people who want to hoop and holler and act up in adult fashion but not around the kids.
