Converting printed pages to WORD

| Hopefully, this is the correct forum for this question. I have a family history book that was published in 1987 by a now-deceased relative, not copyrighted. The fellow who supposedly has the original word processing file does not answer his snail-mail. I want to scan the 130 pages into Word to do the many updates due to deaths and births. Looking at a new Canon scanner recently and it comes with ScanSoftOmniPage SE software. I checked on the internet and that is Freeware! How good is that freeware? The version of that company's software that must be purchased costs about the same as the Canon scanner. Who does such scanning for hire and how much is a fair price for such scanning? Your suggestions about how to get this book into WORD are welcome. |

Hi bus, I have an Epson 4490 that has a button on the front that scans to PDF (Adobe Reader) and an Edit page is there. My old scanner let you scan to MSWord but I never used those options to know what to expect? I just scanned to try the button for PDF and these things popped up. May be of use for you?
I will have to learn more on how to use the features my scanner has to offer. Urlee |
