WOW! What a great day you had Bobby. Both purchases look terrific and you got a great price on the burner. It looks and sounds as though you are already pleased with your purchases. I looked at the power suggestions on your model and the great thing about induction cooking is that you can start boiling your water or cooking soup at the highest power level and then turn it down knowing that the response is instant. Spaghetti and garlic toast make a great dinner, but I have to ask - did you have anything GREEN? I'm not sure why the instructions would say not to use it near anything metal, after all your cooking in metal pots and pans. And as far as the magnetic response to your toaster oven or anything else, keep in mind that even though your cookware has to be able to hold a magnet, you will never feel a pull of the pot towards the burner when you put down or lift up a pot. Many one of our members skilled in engineering or physics will have a scientific explanation. I used my portable induction unit on top of the metal grill of my Jenn-Air cooktop for over two years with no problems. Neither the portable unit nor the built in cooktop that we had mentioned any cautions about keeping other metal at a distance. Have fun and post back with other things you are cooking and grilling. Blue Pearl has been around a long time, and will be around a lot longer... When I first started in the "slab side" of this Trade, some 23 years ago, Blue Pearl was one of the first kinds of Granite that I had ever worked with - still love it today, except there's a whole lot more choices now - then there was 23 years ago... I think the "regional" thingy has some validity, but in the end, it's strictly a personal choice issue - I saw alot more of Blue Pearl in the Mid-West than out here in Phoenix... I think you'll be glad you ordered from them. I live nearby and have bought several roses (and many, many other plants...especially hydrangeas and clematis) from them over the years. Their roses are good sized, strong, own-root plants. They're either in large bands or gallon pots and always well-rooted (just shy of being pot-bound in some cases) and ready to be planted out in the garden. If you ever have a chance to go, I heartily recommend it. Their gardens are incredible to wander in - full of lovely plants and great ideas. Here are some pictures from a visit I made last year in mid-July. The first picture doesn't quite capture how enormous this white hydrangea was. I'm 6'5", and the plant was quite a bit taller than me. I came across a rose I didn't expect to see blooming at that time of the summer: Pompon Blanc Parfait - wonderful scent! And this unlabeled beauty. Looking at their catalogue, I wondered whether this might be the summer look of Duchesse de Rohan (which I've only seen bloom in the spring). The pink was not so garish in real life...
