Lost PSP in computer crash

When our old PC crashed last year we lost everything - files and programs, including Paint Shop Pro which I purchased on-line at the Corel site.

Now I'd like to re-intall it on our new computer. I feel that I'm still entitled to the product since I paid for it.

How can I get it again on the new computer without having to pay for it again? Will the company provide me with a link to download it if I can find the serial or registration # (crossing my fingers...)?

If you have either the serial or registration# I can't imagine why they wouldn't. You can't be the first person that has happened to. But I would really suggest you pay the extra $ for the CD. I only ever had that happen with one program I had downloaded and didn't get the CD, I did have the Registration # written down so I was able to get it reinstalled. Ever since then I make sure I have the CD in my hot little hands. I have already had to replace one computer and replace the harddrive in my second, and it made it much easier. Which version of PSP is it?

Hi Carol,

GOOD NEWS!!! I found the CD!! While looking for information about the version, I found the books(!!) and inside one of them was the invoice of my purchase from Amazon.com in CD-ROM format! (Duh... I turned 50 this year.) So then I started hunting for the CD and found it in a basket in the closet. We've been renovating for a while and just recently finished organizing the office.... but, obviously, not quite. :-/

Anyway....... I have PSP 7.02 & Animation Shop 3

Do you know if I can I upgrade it from the web site to the latest version (which I see is now version 10.03)? I'll see what I can find about this at the web site.

Just finished prunning and cleaning up that front yard section. I just can't believe how much sun there is there now. Anyway, the older bigger roses in the front bed, which were put in 2007 had no damage worth mentioning. Did need some hard prunning to get rid of broken limbs here and there but as soon as they leaf out and start growing that will be unnoticeable. The newer bed section that had Heirloom roses from last year and the year before took the worst of it. Nearest the tree trunk so most flattened. I had to dig and loosen soil around the roots on some of the rose shrubs and pull them back upright as they had ben pushed down. Broken limbs so they got harshly prunned. Then the really little ones from last year are in truely bad shape. Two of them are just not there at all, must have gotten dug up and lost with all the trampling and root digging. I will just replace those as if I need an excuse to buy more roses from Heirloom. The rest of the babies in that section got beat up badly but own root roses come back so they should be fine after awhile, even if extra small. I was also out there on my hands and knees with a cutivator and trowel digging and brushing dirt off the buried Siberian Iris. I was happy to find many of them. So while most are still there some of a partial row is totally gone. That would be were they dug to get to the tree roots that went straight down so that they could have accress to cut that root with the chain saw and lift out what was left of the stump. So now I am going to have top find my lists and see whats missing from that area so I can replace them.

I like Ravencajn's ideas. If you try her approach and you still have no luck, I'd take it to the next level. After unplugging everything and letting it sit, leave everything except the monitor, keyboard and mouse unplugged when you plug it back in. Then turn it on and see if it boots up. If it does, plug in things like speakers, network cables etc. Do them one at a time and make sure the computer is working before going to the next item. Once you get to that point, start with USB devices. Again, do them one at a time and make sure they're working before going to the next one. If you're using USB hubs, unplug everything that's plugged into them, plug in just the hub, make sure it's all working, then plug the devices into it, one at a time (again making sure it works after each one). I also have another question for you. When you say the yellow light is on, what is the yellow light? The power? The drive activity light? something else? I don't like the APC overload light going on. Did you reset the APC? Is this a UPS or one of their surge suppressors? Does the manual for it say it can be reset and used once that light goes on, or are you supposed to replace it? I had a UPS go out when the power company did some work outside. The computer, printer, etc were all undamaged, but I had to get a new UPS. If I hadn't had the UPS, I'm reasonably certain I'd have lost the PC and the printer.

Long Story but all is working now.. Still not sure what happened but I plugged in my old computer.. it worked.. then I plugged in the printer & got the same "no signal" Set up the new computer & it worked even with the printer plugged in.. Any way I'm happy it's working. Something must have been loose. I must have knocked the same thing loose on the old computer...anyway I'm glad I did or I wouldn't have tried the new one again. Dar

I think someone mentioned that what you posted, the registry change wasn't necessarily bad but could be from a program being removed. I wonder if there is a way to find out if you were actually infected with something? This is why I suggested the Panda scan because it would have told you. btw, make sure you do windows updates. I personally would get rid of Mcafee. I know you paid for it but it's a resource hog. For backups I have multiple hard drives, they are cheap. I have an external enclosure that holds 2 drives. I have a computer running windows XP, installed the Maxtor Maxblast program and use that to back up to the larger drives. As far as I know, they don't have a program (Maxtor) like this for Vista but I could be wrong. What it will do is back it up as files verses a file that you have to unpack. If you back up your C drive, you will see every folder on the C drive in your backup.

OK, I installed PSP from the CD and then upgraded it to 7.04 from the web site.

However, I don't know how to get beyond that to version 10. I tried upgrading to the first 8.0 patch but the download program looked for ver. 8 on my computer and didn't find it.

How do I get to version 10 from here?

Why don't you just check the price for PSPx on Amazon, or Staples, Office Max etc.? Then you will have the CD and not have to worry.

Carol, I may do that. But, I read some reviews of PSPx at Amazon that are not good.

But still..... how does anyone else upgrade from 7 to 8, and 8 to 9, and 9 to 10? Do they purchase the new version each time? Is there no way to obtain the upgrade from the web site, as a registered user, without paying again and again?

I read through the reference guide last night and I see that I have a lot to learn.......

Yes, with PSP7 I tried the trial version, then ordered the full. PSP8 came installed on my second computer, wasn't as thrilled with that one, seemed to crash alot. So I went to 9 loved it!!!! Then everyone was saying how great PSPX was that I went ahead and purchased it. So glad I did. Like I said I learned on PSP7, tried 8, uninstalled it but still have 7,9,& X on my computer. You can try the trial version from Corel web site for 30 days, but after that you have to purchase it.
