assistance with batch process please

My brother was here and I downloaded 152 pictures from his camera card to my computer. He wants me to resize about 50 and send them to him via e-mail.

I've never done this before, but wondered if it was possible to do through "batch processing" - which took me to scripts.....again I've never done this. I wanted to resize them to a maximum 500 pixel width and dread doing this one by one.

I read the instructions for the script - tried to resize just two at a time. Ran the script and it resized one and then said it was in a restricted section. I found the trusted and restricted scripts listed and it is not listed in that spot. Tried to do it again and it doesn't show anywhere. I'm lost here.

Help would be appreciated or I have a long, long job ahead.

Elaine, if your script contained a Save I think it will need to be in the Trusted scripts folder.

Did you save the script giving it a name and browsing to the folder to save in or did you use the Save to Quickscript? Quickscript is more temporary, for a script you can reuse whenever you want be sure to go thru the File menu and record the script and save the recording with a name in a script folder.

I'm not real swift on scripts but it is do-able. Actually I tried it on some of my scans and it would have worked perfectly if my photos had all been the same size.

If yours are all the same size to begin with...

1. Open one of the images.

2. File / Script / Start Recording

3. Image / Resize... In Pixel Dimensions area set Units to Pixels and width to 500, Click OK.

4. File / Script / Save Recording and name it and save it in restricted scripts.

5. File / Batch / Process... Browse to select the files you want (try a test run with 4 or 5, just to make sure it works), Check the Use Script box and pick your script from the list. Set the save mode for a Copy (so you don't mess up the originals, just in case). Put in your Save options. (I like the New file name: custom text with a sequece number.) Then go back up to the Start button and click it.

6. Let me know if it worked!

You can undo the change to the photo used to create the script and run it with the rest so you still have the original.

Now, if your photos are all different sizes you need someone smarter with scripts than I am. Try the
corel.PaintShopPro_Scripting news group (Corel site, Home > Community > Newsgroups). I'm sure they could help you out.

Thanks Jill - to begin with, someone wrote and told me that with XP - all you have to do is right click on the pictures and choose "resize picture" and it works for e-mail. So that's what I did and I was happy that it worked.

Now....... this is the first time I tried to do a script - I did what your directions say, exactly - except I'm not sure when I got to #5. It seems to have been saved, but not in trusted... Of course at that point - I was getting error messages and gave up. I'll have to go back and see if I can get it to work.

Thanks for the instructions - I'll follow the #'s 1 - 5 and I will let you know if it works.

If you are happy with your laundry results then you are doing everything right! Like @mamapinky, I sort by color and by use. F.ex. my bath towels are done in their own load as they get fabric softener and nothing else does. My bed sheets are done in one load and get a special conditioning detergent. You mention mostly cotton-poly blends which launder very well. It's amazing the whole family is so consistent. Like Larsi, I seem to have a lot of poly/synthetic blends with exercise and other clothes. For those I use a special Perwoll sports wash. Those loads include anything synthetic and anything that is predominately elastic. Also fleece. Re the lint balls. I found that doing a load of sweaters on my Woolens cycle cleared those away. For that I have a delicate/wool wash.

So, donna, if you just want to skip the whole scald-and-cool process, try ultra-pasteurized milk. FWIW, the supermarkets' organic milks are all ultra-pasteurized around here. The milk producers ultra-pasteurize for the longer shelf life --- a consideration when organic milk is priced higher than regular milk --- but I've found ultra-pasteurized full-fat milks work well for making the thick Greek-style yogurts that I prefer. For an appliance that does everything in one pot, have a look at the Instant Pot IP-DUO 60. If you use the scald cycle, you still have to let the milk cool and add the culture manually before setting it to the fermenting cycle. However, I only would consider one of these if I also wanted the pressure cooker functions, as well. Like dcarch, my personal preference is against a dedicated, single use appliance. I prefer making other appliances serve additional functions. I used to put mason jars of milk & culture in a small beer cooler filled with warm (115°F) water. I used a corded temperature probe (the kind you can use in food that is baking or roasting or on a bbq) to monitor the water temp. When the water fell below 108°F (after four hours or so), I'd scoop out some water and add enough hot water to bring it back up above 110°F.) More recently, I discovered that the lowest setting on my induction cooktop can keeps a large pot of water at between 110° and 115°F for hours, so I've been using that instead. I still hang the thermo probe in the ater with the alarm set for 118° to warn me if the water should get close to the too-hot point of 120°F. Not quite as fire and forget as dcarch's friend with the automotive (as opposed to automated) yogurt maker.

Thank you again to everyone who has shared their opinions! Pam, "Regarding the 16x24 tiles, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the size, but the pattern and color is too busy in my opinion." Yay...confirmation again. I often need reinforcement for what I'm thinking. Completing the tile installation is a bit more complicated than just choosing the new tile. There are a lot of details to be worked out regarding changes from the tile we were expecting to receive compared to what we got. I'm afraid chaos is expected to continue for a few more weeks, but at least a definitive course of action has been made to stop installation of the old tile which is the primary issue for this posting. Phew! And in working towards which tile to choose instead, we will be one step ahead when that time comes. I'm just grateful to know which direction to take. Regarding the drapes and rug, I am still so consumed with the flooring details that I can't even go there yet. I intend to keep the paint color selected previously if it works with the new tile. Knowing we have a lot of darker woods and intricate decor, we were planning on French White to keep things from being too dark. I was able to take some pictures of individual tiles. There are a lot of similarities in them which is one reason I asked about texture and sparkle because those are the main distinguishing elements between the favorites along with size. Some of them do come in 6 x 24 and 8 x 48 so there are options with the pattern that could also help decide. Also, do you feel any of these tiles has the mix of grey and beige tones we were hoping to achieve? I think the pics under the table leg actually help in determining this since it shows them next to the grey from the concrete. Do any of them look too pink, yellow, green...too anything? :) Going from top to bottom of the above picture 1-5. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) I realize some of them look completely different than their match, but that just proves how lighting can affect them. Any keepers or discards based on these pics? I have a couple I think I prefer, but I'm really excited to hear what you think!
