Sure is quiet around here!

I guess everyone is busy doing outside things lately.

I know I've been too busy to do any PSP'ing.

Today I've got 5 kids here so I will be lucky if I am still sane by the end of the day.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

I peep in when I make my rounds on here before I have to go out and do my chores in the nice weather.

Hi Judy, Urlee. I usually disappear in the spring and pop back in in the fall. Too many things going on during spring and summer and I don't get to PSPing. I pop in once in a while to see what everyone is up too. I miss it and you all, but before you know it the season will be over and I'll back to it. See you soon.

@ Denise I wasn't here for any of the various dramas, but I do think the atmosphere toward vendors is too strict. Even when they aren't banned, it makes them too gunshy to speak freely, and that's a shame since they have lots to contribute. We just have to go elsewhere when we want to talk to them I guess. I never can tell what causes my Hoyas to drop their new growth - I can't tell if they're being sensitive or I'm being a dolt. Maybe someday I'll have enough confidence to try and diagnose what has gone wrong, but for now I just try to take it all in stride... After all, some knocking about is inevitable, both by nature and dopey human caretakers. You know, now that you brought up the whole red leaves going away thing.... I've noticed that my lacunosas show the full drama of their unique coloring during the winter. The Sno Caps gets more variegated, the reds come out in the Ruby Sue and Royal Flush... then in summer they all go fairly green and are much harder to tell apart. They are under artificial light the whole time, with just a north window behind them. Do you guys see this pattern in your lacunosas too? @ Teisa That pachy is rocking out! Nice growing! @ Doug Thanks so much for sharing the pictures of your pauciflora. It's so pretty the way those pink freckles show through the white. I have so much fun growing this plant, but it hasn't bloomed for me yet. I am so excited after hearing about the fragrance! My cystiantha is blooming right now, and I have to say that is one of my favorite scents I've smelled in a while. Kind of like a sugary lemondrop except with a more lemongrassy lemon.

Good to hear from you, Hazel. I haven't been doing much of anything (but working). Business has been steady, so I can't complain. I haven't tried making anything new, just been too busy with my real job (LOL) and the shop on weekends. (That translates into a 7 day work week right now.) Susan

For those of you with ice dam issues, in addition to having excellent insulation and good air flow in an uninsulated space above the heated envelope (a combo of soffit vents, gable end vents and roof peak vents), DH ( a former builder/contractor) swears by adhesive-backed underlayment membranes (Bituthane is one brand). They go on at ambient temperature and stick (really stick!) to the roof base (plywood or whatever) and then the shingles go on over it - the stuff seals around the roofing nails. Even when we get ice issues over the ell (impossible to insulate it properly - it's 200 year-old construction) we haven't had a leak, and DH used it to solve numerous client's issues with leaks due to ice dams. I have also heard from a friend with a metal roof that they have had some issues, but it was a while ago and I don't know how they solved them. You might want to ask around on the home forums for folks' experience on retrofitting a house with a metal roof. I love water, but for me it doesn't matter if it's a river, a large lake (10 acres to Lake Superior) or the ocean - each has its charm. Bill, I think you need an Isabella Stewart Gardner type of roofed courtyard, but one with a lower roof on the south side for more sun, a larger space than your sun porch. Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind having one of those either, a spot to putter in the winter. I need to check out Defrost's unheated greenhouse.

Yeah, we tried ProBoards from the old Weight Watchers message boards, and that didn't go too well. There were some people who kept up but some groups who checked in sporadically like my group got lost. I have a busy job that requires about 50 hours per week like funky said, lots of stuff going on. We have one more month in the semester and I am gearing up for an accreditation site visit, so anything home related is not on my radar at all. I can check in here, but I have no active projects going on. Really, nothing's going to happen here until mid-May.

Same here Teri,
I ended up getting stung by a wasp while I was repairing the bottom rail on my fence.
Something SHARP on my wrist and when I turned it around to look---- there was a wasp and I batted it off in a hurry. It hurt until I poured Peroxide and bactine on it (grabbed anything) then I put a poultice on it and cut the top part of a sock off to pull over the bandage so I could finish my job with a can of spray near by.
Had to replace 3 rails. Come time to paint, that wasp came out and went back in saying, "Oh it's just that ole bag I bit yesterday!"
They must have a nest under my vestibule which I am in no hurry to investigate and get rid of cause every fall I have to crawl under there to lower a jack to compansate for the raising when the frost heaves it up.

I haven't been on for quite some time either. Just been busy doing other things. Hope I get back in the swing soon. I do try to look in now and then to see what's going on and what graphics are being done.

I think we are all in the same boat. My sister is here from Texas so I am trying to spend as much time with her as I can. She hasn't been home in about 4 years and last year she almost died. So our time together is pretty special even if she is crazier than me!! haah

Hi everybody. Just stopped in to say hey. Angus takes up pretty much of my time, along with other summer chores. Keeping him from eating rabbit pooh has become a full time job. We have so many rabbits and other critters running around it makes it almost impossible. I don't encourage my other dogs to eat it but sometimes they get to it. For Sophie it isn't a problem because she is on Heartworm med year round, but I have to wait till six months old to put Angus on it, so in the mean time he has picked up tape worm from his little snacks. The dogs think the yard is just a giant salad bar filled with all kind of little treats.
So how's that for my little composition of "What did you do this summer"
