PSP Help for a friend

Hi I got an email today from my friend Karen but I can't help. I'm hoping someone here will be able to.

Right now I'm using my backup computer an old Packard Bell running windows me. I found enough disk space to load and run my psp program. But I'm having a small problem when it comes to vector layers. First as you can see by the screen shot the vector layer should be showing up white but it is showing transparent with a black line around it. And second where you can adjust the line width it won't let you (see the arrow). Do you know a way to fix this?

I see 2 problems already-------
Packard Bell & PSP8! :) Just kidding!
Also, I would move the Layer Palette to under the materials for more room.

Go up and UNcheck the retain style box to UNgrey the "Width" option.
I don't quite understand your Transparent/white question?

I emailed Corel with my problem and lo and behold, they answered this morning. I used their unistall download, which they say works better than add/remove programs. Then after reinstalling they sent me a link for updates/patches. Seems to be working fine now and so far the floppy drive is not being accessed when in PSP. OF course I have not used it yet to get photos from my old Sony, which uses a floppy disk. If I continue to have problems I will just try replacing the drive, it might just be bad. Urlee, I should have posted that I got it installed but haven't had time to do much playing at all. I have been busy putting my computer back together..getting my apt like I want it & getting ready to go to VA for 3 weeks leaving in the morning (better than no excuse LOL) There is lots going on here so I stay a pretty busy now. It sure is different than living in the boonies of north Florida. I went inside of the file on drive C looking & there I found an install icon. That worked for me. I never know what info to put in RUN to start a program unless it tells me & this didn't. Thanks for the responce, Sugar

amy, There are good points to both. (9&X) In X, I liked the fact that you could see each image in the layer palette without having to run your mouse over. I haven't used them (9&X) long enough to see but a lot of folks swear by 9 and I sure was lucky to get a PSP9 as I bet it was one of the last ones sold. Started to use X when I first bought it. Then I ran into a snag which my dear friend JOY gave me a solution to where when e-mailing our "dear" Coral, they gave me the run around and couldn't tell me what Joy did which was such a simple thing. I let them know too. But like I say, what I do do in PSP, PSP7 does it just fine as I only have been resizing, touchups, multiple printing, and copy/paste to MSWord from there what I want to insert. I can't remember which one stopped having Animation shop but as long as you have it now, or a disk with it, you are OK as Animation Shop is a program of it's own that works with 7, 8, 9, & X.

Hi, this is Karen (jacksmum friend). I want to thank the both of you for your help. Urlee unchecking the retain style box worked. It actually solved both the problems. And I have to agree this computer is the pits but it's all I have until I can find parts for my other one.
Now if you don't mind I have another question for you both. How can I move the layers pallette under the materials palette. Om my old computer all 3 of the pallettes (materials, preview, and layer) were all lined up in a nice row on the right hand side of my screen. But when I loaded it onto this computer you see from the screen shot above that they are large and not lined up.

Happy to hear from you and also be of help!
Didn't mean to insult your PB computer and would be happy to have it if I had to too.
Any friend of Sue's is a friend of mine. So you must know how many friends I have? "LOL"
We are one big happy family here and I (we) hope to see more of you here.

Just go up to the top where it says layer and press down on your mouse button and drag it over and under the materials palette. You may have to click on the restore button in the middle after you drag it to get it to show right.

Thanks again Urlee! I have it straightened out and feel more normal now. When you get used to using a program a certain way and then it changes it can be a bit confusing.
