I have a collection of vintage suitcases too. I pick them up when I see them at rummage sales, TSs and flea markets. They do make wonderful storage ... unless they stink that is. I took baking powder once and rubbed it into a guitar case that smelled mildewy and then vacuumed it out. It took away the stink without doing any damage to the lining. I never thought to paint them though! They turned out great!

Hey Lucy, I have dug up my share of rocks too! They surely do come in handy at times. I feel for you getting to enjoy the neighbors sewer. Just got rid of that problem myself. Didn't run on my side mind you however, the smell would knock you down! Glad our lots are very large! They finally had new field lines installed about 2 weeks ago. I got maybe half of my grass mowed yesterday and the storm came. It is suppose to rain again today too. I will try to mow some more after it dries up a little this morning. Maybe I can get a little more down. At least finish where people can see. haha I will just have to walk through the tall wet grass to work on my plants. Alexa and janetpetiole... you both have a very sharp eye! For Alexa, yes, that is Spring Fling in the 3rd picture, 3 o'clock position. It is the only one with a ruffled edge in that area, and it really stands out... And for janetpetiole, yes, I have a little dwarf garden in the top right of some of the photos (it is a trough I made at hosta college last year.) Actually, you can see in the 2006 picture, the dwarf cedar is nice and green, but in the 2007 pictures, you can see it is reddish/brown because it died over the winter... I am planning to take it out sometime soon. There is a tiny dwarf hosta in there too... Masquerade... and the gnome which resided there last year is still inside and hasn't made his way out there yet! Phil... you are correct about not being able to appreciate the true beauty of a hosta until it matures for a few years. Spring Fling was not much to look at in 2005, but now in 2007 it is one of my favorites. It's finally starting to look like those hosta library pictures... And Janice... Sooo cute! and how very clever of you! have wanted to try makeing these useing small silk flowers with a pretty bead for the center kinda like these at this site, I did make one hair clip useing the foam cut outs like the chunky daisy, kinda like the button one,I used a pink daisy, white cut out circle then a pink button,then a small white button, put white dots on the petals of the daisy with paint, my gd saw it and wanted to wear it before I got a photo taken. bet your GD and her friends are haveing a ball getting to dress up and wear all those pretty hair bows! oddie Here is a link that might be useful: cute flower hair clip
