| I tried to scan a picture, and got a message that there was an error in communicating with the scanning device, and that I should make sure that it is connected properly and try again. The power is on, because the little light on the cover is on. I checked both ends of the USB cable, and they appear to be firmly attached, but I still get the warning. I even tried restarting the computer. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

| Unplug the USB cable from the scanner/printer. Reboot your computer. Plug the USB cable back in. Windows should recognize the device. If that doesn't work, download the latest/greater drivers from HP and install them. |

| Thanks for your reply. I had asked this question on the Computer Help Forum, also. I had already triede uninstalling and reinstalling (via the disc that came with it). That didn't work. I guess I'll try to download the drivers. |
