Please, I need help or advice for this..

Hi,

I do mini scrapbooks 4x6 for my grandchildren. I want to do a theme "I just can't get enough of you." What I would like to do is have a picture of them on a file, but have file after file, like lined up behind each other with the same picture duplicated on each file. I hope I am explaing this well enough. For example, in MS Word under autoshapes and then under flow charts, the multi document is kind of what I am talking about. I have MS Word 2000, MS Works 2000. I do have PSP 7 but have No idea how to use it. Does anyone know what I am trying to explain. Would anyone care to help create this for me, once I decide on the picture? If this can be done can different pics be used or would I have to use one pic and have it on all the files. Thanks for your time.

Hi Sapphires, is this what you have in mind?

This is the multidocument figure from MSWord...

And this is what I made from it using a pic of my dog...

What I did was open MSWord and draw the multidocument figure then copy it and paste it in PSP9.
After promoting the Background layer, I selected the white areas and deleted them, leaving only the black outline.
Opened a pic of my dog and copied it.
Clicked inside the front "document" to select that area and Pasted inside the selection (Edit/Paste/Paste Inside Selection).
Copy (that gives you a selection shaped copy). Then Paste as New Layer twice.
Make the top picture active and move it to fit inside the lines of the middle "document". Make it invisible.
Make the second picture active and move it to fit inside the lines of the last "document". Make all the layers visible.
Drag the original layer (with the black outline) to the top of the layer stack and it should look like a stack of pictures. Just make sure the bottom layer has the picture that is farthest back (highest) and the middle layer has the picture that lines up with the middle "document".
Drag the original layer with the multidocument image to the top of the layer stack.

Clear as mud?

You can also do this in MSWord just stacking photos. I haven't found a way to put the photo in a shape like I did in PSP.

When you paste photos into MSWord, click on a photo then right click and select Format Picture. Choose the Layout tab and select In Front of Text. This makes the picture "float" and you can move it around. Now do the same thing to the next photo and move it into place. Repeat for all photos.

Yes this is exactly what I want. As far as your first set of instructions, you lost me at "after promoting the background layer" LOL! I know nothing about PSP. Now, I will try to follow your instructions for MS Word. I would really like to get this done, so perhaps if I can't do it I could request your talents. Thank you Jill.

What look are you trying to go for? Are you cabinets sleek and modern or more traditional? Do you have pictures of kitchens that you love? All of this will help with your backsplash choice. As far as color for your walls...is your kitchen open to any other rooms? What colors are you using in the rest of the house? Is your oak laminate dark or light? Does it have red tones or is it predominantly brown? Knowing the answers to these questions will make it easier for people to give you suggestions. You are almost finished! The paint and backsplash are fun parts!

Bac, I doubt that anyone would question your handling of your CL items. You do the best you can do with a situation that can become a little tricky when you have lots of interest but little follow-thru. And I agree.......the scenario where you list your item, get one response, and the person buys right away, is super nice! I listed an old buffet back in April and that's how my sale went. (I did get an email from a scammer, but after I replied to them, it became apparent what they had in mind.) Someone emailed a question, I replied and told her to give me a call if she wanted to come see it. Soon, I got a text from her and she wanted to set up a time. I texted back, we went from there and she showed up--bought it on the spot. No other replies, but, as my husband noted..........you only need one person with money and a truck to haul it off! To date, I have bought 3 buffets and one dining set off Craigslist, where I have had to really travel. The dining set was 90 minutes away in a storm, the various buffet trips were each about 3 hours. Now, that's where you need to have a committed buyer and seller and work out details very carefully. In each case, after the initial email where I asked more questions, got back answers and phone number from the seller, I told them where I lived and asked if I could come see it (Saturday or whatever day I had in mind) if they still had it at that time. As a buyer who has other obligations, (work, children in school, distance to drive, etc.) you really have to connect with the seller right before you get ready to leave to come see. So, you must face the fact that that seller might have another buyer 5 minutes away that is in the right place at the right time to buy and your item won't be there when you find the time to come. I see that just in the same way as a "Macy's Super Saturday Sale". If I can't get there on Saturday, I don't get the benefit of the sale. No matter how badly you may want to buy their item, if you can't get away to see it before others start banging on their door, you lose out. Anyway, once I had phone numbers (love people who put them in the ad, saves so much time and hassle!) I called and we talked. I asked about coming on my chosen day and told them to call me if there was a problem. I also told each seller that I would call as I left town and they agreed to that. To me, that guaranteed that I was serious and on my way. Each person was waiting and in expectation of me when I arrived. And I had no fear that they would sell out from under me once I was en route. On the other hand, when I am local and can't get away right away to view the item, I tell the seller that I would like to come see after work, and that I will call to make sure it is still available. That IS a great piece and chalk paint would be wonderfully easy, and would adhere well to the existing. You got very lucky with your Craigslist. I know that you just want to paint it now, but in a few years, if you want to do something that is fun and EASY, look at what I am doing with a similar dresser from 'my' Craigslist. All I did was cut some fabric to size for the drawer fronts, and glued it on with ModgePodge, which can be found in any craft store. It acts as glue, and then you do several coast of it on top of the fabric to act as sealer. It just takes a very light sanding between coats, and you're done! I agree that glass knobs would be perfect on yours. I just looked on eBay and found some that are very reasonable priced, and he has a good selection. See link below. They can be very pricey, so I'll be looking at his, too! (I have NO affiliation with ANY seller on eBay; I just like to shop there.) Before - During, as I haven't finished it yet. No matter who you hire, it's really important to understand what *you* want to some degree -- unless/until you determine you want to just go with an experienced KD thinks you should have. That's not the KitFor way and since you keep posting here I think you're one of us -- not someone who will hire someone and let them build their vision for you. It's terribly overwhelming. I almost sold the house rather than renovate it. But you seem to be doing fine. Two years from now, I bet you'll be here giving advice to others based on your experience. Since you seem to have 2 people lined up to help, have you compiled enough clips and photos of kitchens you like to help them figure out a style you like and features? If so, you're set for now. Having those "inspiration" pics will be a huge help because you can use the clips to figure out out what you go for -- you've said sort of country but that can mean different things to different people. The photos help make it more specific. When I went through mine, I found I picked a certain shape or color or style over and over. So I was able to define for myself what I liked that way. With that guidance, the KD you wind up with should then be able to guide you through the rest.

Sure, no problem. I'll be out of pocket all day tomorrow, but back tomorrow evening. But you should be able to do the MSWord thing pretty easy.

I could give you more detailed instructions for PSP, if you want to learn that. Lot's of people are using PSP for digital and printed scrapbooking, plus there are lots of "freebies" on the web, papers, elements, etc. I'd love to see what you're doing with the 4x6 scrapbooks.

I did it! I used MS Word. I haven't uploaded it yet to show. I have to decide now if I want it in black and white, one picture multiplied or different pictures. Thank you ever so much for your help. This theme will be "I just can't get enough of you". The other theme I am working on now is "I am so amazed by you" or "Your just so amazing" still working on theme title. I made a square maze and cut a smaller square hole in the middle for a pic. A Maze get it..amazing. This way they can do the maze and I will take a pic of them doing the maze to insert and add quotes like your so amazingly beutiful etc.. The girls love to carry these small books around it's just the right size for them. Jill thank you for helping me with this. I have another question but think I should start a new post for that.
