I piled grass and leaves on my garden last fall to a depth of about 3 feet. It was a mound about 6 inches to a foot deep in the spring. I don't know if that's typical or not. I didn't initially set out to lasagna garden. I just piled stuff on the garden because that was the only place I had available.

I probably couldn't help with the bug identification but... with posting a bigger image... maybe. First you'll need to host the image somewhere other than this forum, that way you get around the size restriction. Many people use http://photobucket.com/ but you can use whichever one you wish. I'll use Photobucket as an example. After you upload the high resolution image, view the image and copy the "Direct Link" from the link box. Use the link you just copied to replace imageURL in the following text: You should then have a larger image that can be clicked to view even larger. Preview it to make sure you have it right before posting of course. There is also a free download called CutePDF writer. Once you download/install it shows up just like a printer so you go to print your document, select this option, and it creates a PDF file and saves it to your hard drive. We use this at work and I also use it at home.
