Hand pollination will work. You can grow all different varieties right next to each other with no problem.Even if they cross pollinate, they will produce gourds true to their type BUT the seeds from those gourds will produce a mixed type. If you hand pollinate some of the blossoms,then tag so you'll know which ones you did, these can be your seeds gourds. Works out great. There are some great web sites that explain this much better than I can and also Ginger Summits book, Gourds in Your Garden,explains hand pollinating and just about anything you would like to know about growing gourds. It's my favorite.

Depending on the humidity at the time of drying they can take a while to dry completely. Even when they look dry, they might not be. At that point, no you will not see mold in storage just diminished viability. Do not use the dehydrator. Let them sit out at least a week before putting in an envelope. There's no need for the jar unless going in the fridge. In the fridge, it should be air tight so no moisture gets in. But there's no need for the fridge. Tomato seeds stored in a cool dark and dry spot in the home will last quite a few years.. A few days of hot temps should not have so severely harmed unless there was trace moisture before going in the jar. Remy

^color at bottom looks sickly... ^dark spot on top, green color doesn't look so great ^big cactus #2 - roots look ok? Just covered in dirt... But is the bottom part rotted..? Right now, they are all just sitting drying out in a shady place... Didn't repot.
