i am saying.. since you asked.. lol.. that the version in your pic.. is really ugly .. lol ... and if... after bloom.. next year... you could cut it to the ground.. by the following spring.. you will have a very nicely formed plant .. instead of one that is leaning everywhichway .. unless you prefer it that way.. and if you do.. so be it ... i once posted a slaughtering of this plant .. years ago ... worried that i got a little carried away ... and many peeps chimed in ... that they cut theirs to the ground every season .. but they were in warmer zones than me... so i ignored them.. lol .... mom had one at their house in the 1960's.. and i still have mine, as does she .. i would never be w/o one ... in my memories.. it is extremely choice ... it just needs to be taught a lesson once in a while... lol ... all this said.. in your location.. that seems rather dark [a presumption about summer when leaves are on the other stuff] .. with the competitors... you MIGHT have trouble starting other things .... your plants all grew up together.. forcing something new in there might be a challenge ... or not.. what do i know ... from one winter pic .... ken

Do you have a leaf blower that can be switched to a vacuum? And if you do, would you be able to vacuum that way? I'm not sure of the limits of your physical capability, but would vacuuming be just as tiring as raking? Maybe not as much physical motion or movement, but I'm thinking lugging and moving a shopvac may be tiring. My leaf blower doubles as a vacuum and while it is a "hand-held" blower/vac, I get tired out pretty quickly! And I don't think I would use anything except a shopvac - I'm not sure if you are asking about other vacuums, or if you are only considering the shopvac, but just thought I'd throw that out there! I would suggest asking on your local freecycle for some help. Maybe someone would come clean out the bed in exchange for a plant division or two. Or perhaps your local teen center, boys & girls club, church, or middle or high school have some kind of job bulletin board or program where kids will work. This might be a good longer term solution as well for you. A friend of mine with arthritis used to have a young teen come over and help her. She found him through some kind of work program at the middle school. He got to earn some money and she got help with her garden. Lastly, are the leaves matted so thickly that they will interfere with growth, or is it just a thin/light layer? Your other option is to clear the leaves around the new growth when it appears, and just leave them in the bed as mulch. Good luck! :) Dee

do you have the felt with the leaves on it? its really easy to do but I need to know how far she got done on it. the instructions are in my head not on paper. what color yarns are u using /or upto. as how to start each row it depends on how you started the first row. I’ve got an autumn blaze Maple that will not green up. I’ve got other trees in the area that do just fine. It is Planted on all the farmland so I think the soil is OK. I’ve got another two trees down there is doing great and the neighbors is doing well. Any thoughts how to get it to respond?

OMG!! Sorry Sue. Lately it is Summer posting the tuts so I screwed up again. I've been sick all week. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!! haha

No sneezing from me. I've got bronchitis and have been coughing my brains out so I don't have much gray matter left!!

Hi Judy. Sorry you are sick. Hope you feel better soon.

Last Friday I didn't go to painting class as I had a cold and couldn't stop sneezing - oil paint and snot might make an interesting texture but I didn't want to be the one that invented it!! This Friday is Good Friday so classes aren't on :(

Has anyone tried that tut? The mask unzips as a psp picture and I can't figure out how to make it load as a mask. Heheee considering we've done the tut before Judy is obviously not the only one losing gray matter!

Sue- open the maskara thing in psp and then go to masks/new from image. Then you should be able to follow the rest of it ok. I did and you know about my brain cells!!
