I save all six pages as one file, so I don't upload them individually. It all goes together. I've always called the file "index.htm". I pasted the instructions below that I found. When I follow these directions, I get a box saying "cannot save 'index.htm'. The folder is marked as 'read only'." I checked the publisher file, and it is not marked "read only". The other day, when I first tried uploading after making the changes to the Publisher file, I didn't get that message, but I may have been doing something differently. I've found different instructions and tried all kinds of things. When I click on properties for the network ftp location, it says "This server does not support changing file permissions". When I right-click the files in the ftp location, and look at "properties", it says "does not support changing file permissions". The file in the ftp location that is called "index.htm" shows that it was last updated in June 2009, so I must have done something to a different ftp file the other day when some of the changes to the Publisher index.htm file uploaded. If you are installing Office 2007 to replace Office 2003, then 2007 generally will allow you to perform an upgrade, and I have yet to have this fail (done many). Be sure your o/s is up-to-date and malware free. On installation select upgrade and respond to the questions. Select "Customize" and then on the pulldowns select "Run all from my computer" or at some point in the future you will be prompted for the media to install whatever is missing. Don't forget the updates after the installation, there are many.

Often the lock is caused by an improper shutdown. Open it up, do a "Save As" and save it under a different name. You should then be able to open the newly saved file for editing.
