Hi-res capable scanner

Newbie...apologize if this cross-post from computer forum is a no-no but I guess it belongs here instead.

12 years ago I completed first round of scanning/archiving old family photos. Good job but that equipment long-gone.
Ready for another round upon discovery of previously unknown photo-trove.

Seeking advice for purchase of new scanner capable of high quality/resolution scanning/preservation of these old photos. Not particularly price-sensitive. Just want high quality. Speed would be nice, too.

Computer is late-model iMac.

RE: Hi-res capable scanner

Have you found anything yet? Are you looking for just a scanner or something like a multifunction device? if so there are quite a lot in the market these days. I however, am using an HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner. It's not as advanced as most but its easy to use and it works! I got mine for just over a hundred and I've been using it ever since.
