Greetings all, Here's a picture of the brugs I bought yesterday at $15 each. It's raining extremely hard right now. I ran out and brought them into my laundry room so the wind wouldn't knock off the blooms. The shredded white 'Confettii' has over 10 buds so when it flowers I will post a picture; the double white has about six buds besides the four blooms. Edna, when my 'Confettii' brug gets larger, you can certainly have cuttings -- just remind me. I hadn't been to WWE in over a year and was glad I went. Sara is the person I've bought from before, and her mom and dad do the farmer's markets in Santa Clarita, Burbank and I think she said also Pasadena. Call for the times they are opened. Last time, I bought salvias Indigo Spires and Purple Majesty, kangaroo paws, pelargonium sidoides, and colocasia Black Mask. This time, the two brugs, senecio petasitis, Leonotis sp., oxalis purpurea 'Garnet', and colocasia Black Mask (again, forgot I already had it). I wanted some other plants, but then I remembered a had a rental car and it is small compared to my Jeep! The rain stopped for a bit, have to run out to tip one of my plumeria pots that has a water reservoir and don't want root rot. Later.

Hey dude, thanks for the reply. I have exciting news! I checked just now and the bottom of the netpot on the tomato plant has tiny white roots poking out! Just 12 hours ago I poured plenty of EWC tea through the pot, maybe those microbes are helping things along. I suppose now I just gotta hope these roots don't get stunted and perhaps when they get long enough I won't have this leaf drying issue. :) I'm gonna go make some king crab legs now, time to celebrate!

You should have a lot of fun! My DH and I did this trip in 2000. What are you using to help you find the original segments of the route? We used the Route 66: Travelers Guide and I think we had another book but I can't remember the title for sure. Sometimes it was a challenge to puzzle out some of the directions but we went on a lot of the original route including a brick section and one of the few sections of single lane road that remains. They were having trouble getting enough money to complete the route so they built some sections just one lane (9 feet wide) to finish paving the path at about half the cost. Mostly each evening I planned the travel for the next day. The path of Route 66 changed during the time it was in use so there are often alternative routes to choose between. One of the places we stayed was the Blue Swallow Motel in New Mexico - built in 1939, each room has a garage next to it for your car which was typical at that time. Drive carefully.
