what do your baking sheets look like?
Comments (56)I so rarely come to this forum that I didnt even have it bookmarked - I have a question but began to glance over the thread titles and this one stopped me dead it my tracks. I just KNEW what the pictures would look like if anyone posted one! I love this thread, it was so much fun to read. Im very particular about everything - except my cookie sheets and, I must confess, my muffin tins. They look just as bad as the sheets. Well, they did. Besides some family and a couple who are more family than some of my family, we unexpectedly but gladly insisted upon another couple coming over for Thanksgiving dinner when I found out that bit by bit their plans unraveled. I have recently been to her home for a cocktail type of party and her cookie sheets and baking pans were well used but pristine. The idea that she would see the shape of mine threw me into a panic and I went out and replaced them all. Mine get badly burnt by the use of spray pam. I tend to use parchment paper/cupcake papers but all it takes is one spray without elbow greasing them clean and that stuff burns in the very next time they are used. I have sworn to myself that I will keep them looking nice and so far I actually have. Check back in a year though, and that first photo in this thread will likely be what mine will look like. I didnt know that parchment paper could be used for roasting. What a nifty piece of info! With my lipped pans I would use aluminum foil and a bit of olive oil but its wonderful to know that I can use the paper for things other than just normal baking temps which are generally fast baking. Bellsmom, I love the pic of that cute fur face!...See MoreSlightly Off-Topic - Triple Sheeting
Comments (33)@AA--I think the triple sheeting is a good idea in your case. I always sleep hot, so I never use my down comforter. I also found it never looked "neat" and was a PITA to take the cover off and wash. So, I use white cotton percale bottom and top sheets, and a linen coverlet in white. I live in Chicago so it does get cold. In the winter, I add a down blanket into the mix. (Restoration Hardware has nice light-weight down blankets that aren't too hot and are easy to wash). If I had pets, I would probably also add a top sheet like you are suggested, like they do in some hotels. I think that setup is also mentioned in Cheryl Mendelson's book "Home Comforts." And FWIW, I think white is easiest to wash, and I love to be able to launder my bed linens with hot water and a bit of real bleach on rare occasions :-) I add color with pillows!...See MoreCutting edges off of delicate mosaic glass sheets...PLEASE HELP!!
Comments (16)A few options in no particular order: 1) He can cut the entire sheet on a wet saw with an appropriate blade. The sheet will be able to withstand the process...or it won't. 2) If the sheet is too delicate for the wet saw, he could keep everything dry by score/snap/nippers to cut the long tiles to length. Some glass snaps evenly, some doesn't. Depends on glass size, shape, surface irregularities, and the skill of the one holding the tool. 3) If the glass does not give decent and repeatable results by cutting manually (raggedy edges, edge fractures), he could pull the long tiles off the mesh, install the sheet on the wall, then cut each removed piece to length and then set them. Depending on what tools he has in his tool kit, some glass can be dry cut without thermal cracking. Your mosaic are small enough where that could be a possibility. But in general I prefer to not dry cut glass with an abrasive wheel....See MoreLatex paint peeling off in sheets on new drywall
Comments (77)Greg Beach I had the issue in multiple rooms but only peeled the paint off in the worst room. In the other rooms, we skimmed, applied Gardz, waited 24+ hours, primed and then painted. I don't remember which primer we used - in some rooms it was Sherwin Williams (one of their pro primers because they provided the paint). In other rooms it might have been Ben Moore. We didn't spray the paint. It was always rolled and brushed. The failed paint left a weird residue behind that wouldn't come off no matter what we did. We cleaned the walls, wiped, vaccummed, etc . Only gardz stopped it...See Morewjswecampbell
