GardenWeb needs your feedback!

Hi everyone,

As you may have noticed, we've been sprucing up the site a bit. Among other things, we've added new ways to upload photos and email notifications of post replies. We are still cleaning out cobwebs and weeding some areas of the site, but we are also working on some bigger projects like a better search engine (yay!) and a mobile app. We'd also like to get some feedback from you. What enhancements or additions would you like to see? What do you love? What do you hate? Think big and small!

We can't promise the moon, but please know that we will read and consider every one of your ideas and suggestions. We appreciate your loyalty and dedication to our site and we know how important your community is to you. Help us make it even better!

Please use this post to offer your feedback. But, as always, you are welcome to contact me directly by clicking on my profile page.

Best regards,

Tamara Amey

I also don't understand why some of the forums get all mixed up (on dates). This one, this happens a lot. If you read down the list, you will see that there are posts dated later (and with later followups) than some below them. Often, YEARS off.

Is there a computer calendar glitch somewhere where it ignores the year occasionally and resorts?

It just isn't a good thing, especially on less active forums.

Kirkhall, that's usually the result of a thread being bumped up from ancient times with a post from a spammer, and then the spam post is deleted, but the thread remains bumped up.

A code change ...

1 - After a certain time, like 90 days or so, stop sending replies to the OP.

2 - Minimize necroposting by warning people who post a reply to an old thread that the thread was started more than _X_ months ago ... sometimes its a useful update, but more often it's just a late response.

Reporting Spam - with a One-Click Button

A spam button so if any posts are spam rather than email tech support we could just click a button on the post "Spam". After the button is clicked the button could change to "Spam Reported" which might reduce the number of times the spam is reported to tech support.

It also might help reduce spam because the spammers would see that their posts would not last long.

Hi everyone!

You asked and we listened. Today we are very excited to be debuting our newest feature -- post editing! To use this feature, go back to the post you wish to correct and you'll find the link under the 'My Clippings' links on the right side of the page.

I want to give a special shout out to all the testers who tried to break the editing tool. ;) Your feedback was insightful and invaluable. Thank you!

You may have also noticed that we adjusted the login cookie awhile back so that you should not have to login repeatedly.

Stay tuned -- we have more cool things in the works!

As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Best regards,
Tamara

Wish the posts for sites at the cooking forum could be chosen for newest first.
Now if I want to see what someone served tonight I need to scroll down weeks worth.
Love you still!

It would be nice if the link in the new post notification emails would jump you right to the new post instead of having to scroll down and hunt for it.

If you want to make Garden Web more user friendly and more easily accessible Tamara you could consider Bulletin Board software.

phpBB is also free, here's the link for you to peruse...
