Are ''estate sales'' what some of us call ''yard sales''?
Comments (4)Carolyn is right. They will be selling anything you can see and that can be moved and is not attached to the property. Other than that there should be no restrictions as to what you can purchase. Everything will be left in the home if the sale is conducted on the property. A lot of times these 'estate' sales are conducted off the property at an auction place. Most times the sale is conducted as an auction whether on or off the property. 99% of the time the house is one where people are no linger living there - either they've passed away or there is a foreclosure. Yard sales and such are when folks just drag out what they no longer use and get rid of it....See MoreHow much have you paid for jars @ yard sales
Comments (21)I just sent off a note to Big Lots asking about canning jars. Apparently they go by local store demand. If they have skids full, and these sit for more than a few months of canning season, they won't send off any the next year apparently. I suggest that if your local Big Lots has no jars, send off a note to them through their web site. I don't mind using a jar over, but to just buy used old jars, gives me another issue that I must carefully inspect each one, for cracks, chips, and most importantly heat stress. The heat stress can only be done with a polariscope I believe, unless you just want to fill a jar with hot water and run it through a whole canning process to see if it will crack. Its like buying a pig in a poke, or that 'infamous' box of chocolates (Forrest Gump)! Older jars over about 4-5 years are actually pints and quarts, whereas todays are in liters....See MorePlant Sale & Neighborhood Yard Sale 5/21

Don't give up though, it sounds like you're helping! My mother had stage 4 ovarian cancer last year and her doctor recommended finding a good hospice. She changed doctors, beat the cancer, and is now happy in her garden, playing with the irises and cosmos! Miracles do happen! SEE YOU ALL AT THE BOX SOCIAL!!!...See Moredreamgarden
