I just bought two sets of towels at Kohl's and besides being longer and a little wider than what I was used to, they are wonderfully soft and med. thick......really impressed & they wash beautifully. If this will help, I just looked up price I paid early July, bath was 13.99 and hand towel was 10.99 and they were having a sale of buy one and get one free. Kohl's is always having "biggest sale of the season" or something sale so I never, ever have paid full price. You know what I do like about Kohl's is that they carry so many good name brands like Lee, Levi, Sag Harbor, Bali, Kitchen Aid, Nike and they have really good sales. I like being a 'senior' and getting the usually 15% off on Wed. Do go look up the towels and all the wonderful colors (they have winter colors and spring color lines).

Thanks, Terriks. I had a RL sheet set and I really liked it. But it wore down after a couple of years and started to rip in the middle. At least they were on sale! This was the set that had pink flamikngos on them. Bumble, we put our a/c on 72 at night. That way I can cuddle under the covers or else I'd burn up. We also keep a fan going at night. In the winter we put the thermostat around 65 at night. This is funny. In our office we each have our own computers. DH's is under the ceiling vent. One winter I was cleaning house and got real hot so I lowered the thermostat. When I came back here my dh was wearing a stocking hat and his heavy robe! lol. He knows I get hot so he was being thoughtful. :)

I've read about this issue before with scratchy towels even coming out of the dryer. I've never had this happen and I do not use softener with towels. They get either a regular hot wash or Sanitary or Allergen cycle. Always extra rinses. The dryer temp. I use is med-high heat and also use the Eco-Friendly option which lowers the the temp a few degrees and increase time but uses less power overall. I also use these options... Wrinkle Release: The wrinkle release option helps prevent wrinkles and tangling by alternately tumbling the load without heat for 5 minutes in a clockwise direction, then 5 minutes in a counterclockwise direction. Perfect Tumble: The perfect tumble option uses reverse tumble action during cool down to reduce tangling and wrinkling. Shrink Guard: The shrink guard option reduces the initial drying temp. and gradually lowers the drying temp. during the cycle to protect the fabrics from shrinking.

We understand. But I think there's more than one way, and maybe you can all get what you want. The vast majority of times this has happened in my home it was guests. I did not even mention to them, like you said, it's just towels and I kept using them until they wore out, I just made sure not to use the bleached ones when guests were visiting. But here's the deal. I have sometimes used anti-acne medication. I also have used toothpastes and mouthwashes that have peroxide or other bleaches in them to treat gingivitis. And I often wear contact lenses that need to be cleaned/disinfected with peroxide (not all contact lens solutions have it). There are things that are easy to do -- rinse your face well before using a towel, for example; spitting toothpaste out and then just wiping your face dry will bleach the towel if you're using dental hygiene products with bleach. Sometimes it's harder, because people are trying to follow instructions from their doctors -- for example, when cleaning contacts, one is often advised to dry hands/fingers between dealing with one contact and then the other one. Sometimes doctors advise to always deal with the contacts over a towel (for example, rinse them with the disinfecting solution) so as not to drop them on dirty surfaces. That's when it helps to step outside the box for a bit. I only use the towels when what I'm drying is clean and well rinsed. If you need to blot something or rinse contacts over a towel, that's when I reach for the roll of paper towel I keep in the bathroom. As a bonus, not only are you discarding the paper and it doesn't matter if you had peroxide on it, but also you are always using a fresh paper towel for things that should be kept away from whatever was in the towel before you tried to use it. Also, no lint on the contacts, much nicer to the eyes. Good luck!
