Best value for sheets, towels, bedding?

Hi,
we've run out of bed linens. Where can I get the best deal on solid white bedding? I also need solid white towels.

| Call your local hotels/motels. I hear they dispose of them long before they're actually worn out. August and January are "white sale months" at many of the stores. Hit the garage sales. If you have a Trading Post or Consumer Call or whatever they call it at your local radio station, call in and leave your request and phone number. Post on Craigslist (but be careful). |

| I've bought bedding from Overstock.com with good results. Some of the deals are better than others. I think everything I've purchased has held up pretty good. |

| Pay close attention to thread count. I bought some sheets once that were as close to gauze as it could get without having to be labelled as such. I linked a site that will give more information on purchasing sheets but myself, I like a good substantial 100% cotton sheet, laundered and bleached, with the smell and slightly rough feel of an outdoor clothesline drying. I've always said if I ever became rich, such that I had housekeepers and maids, I would insist upon fresh line-dried sheets every night. |

| If you have Costco near by try there. Otherwise I'd go to JC Penneys, Sears or some good name brand store. I have found that I want softness as well as a good size , thick towels and sheets. |

| I have had a variety of bedding, expensive and cheap. I now buy them at Walmart. The last time I bought a set of white sheets they cost around $30 and I think they are the best of all I have used. I have used them probably 2 years and they don't seem to worn any. |

Having managed my household for most of 30 years, I can't remember when I had a sheet wear out. I had enough to last me until
at least age 100 before moving here, I think ... and, having fallen heir to most of uncle's stuff, now can manage for another
hundred years, I think. I recently found a couple of sheets along the freeway a few miles from home and they've laundered well and are intact. Found a crib blanket in excellent condition along the street in the city, last week: haven't laundered it yet ... and it
got choc. milk on it when the female canine (we'll forebear using the correct name) bit the bag, too. I've found various towels of differing sizes but mostly fairly large ones along the highway. Most have been white, and probaly
more than half have retained stains after repeated laundering - so I use such for washup after dirty work or to use as
cleaning rags (landlord, a sod farmer, has a shop here where he can use a number of them), etc. ... even using some to
cover sensitive garden plants when there's danger of frost. They're useful to cover open-top boxes full of stored
things to keep dust and dirt out. The price, at nil, has been incomparable! Remember - to save $10.00 on a non-deductible purchase is equal to earning quite a lot more than that as a wage increase. ole joyful |
