First of all, thanks for your comments, I appreciate the outside viewpoint! Carla35- She brings home a stack of work every evening and weekend, and even if she doesn't do it, it serves to block any spontaneous activity or plan that I might propose. But if a friend, relative, or co-worker calls she will spend hours on the phone with them, and if they are in a crisis (real or imagined) she will spend tons of time with them, explaning they "need her support". Yes, I'm groused about it, and yes, we've talked about it, and it always ends with "after this crisis is over, we will have lots of time together". And maybe there will be a couple of quiet weeks between crisis, but usually not, because the work and friend/relative/coworker crisis are usually overlapping. Her friends are mostly of low moral character, or just hangers-on who use her time and money, and most of her relatives have "behavioral problems", so I don't want to spend time with them. And frankly, I've grown tired of trying to fit our married life into the tiny free spaces in her schedule. I get tired of following her around like a lost puppy in order to actually hold a conversation. popi and scarlett2001- You could be right that DW is bored with me, I'm not Mr. Excitement, but I am Mr. Dependable. I do about 90% of the housework, take care of the pets, take care of most of the financial matters, make sure her stuff is in her briefcase as she screams out the door in the morning, and support her 100% in these endless crisis she's involved in. And I have a full time high-level job of my own to go to everyday. It's kind of funny and kind of sad, it seems like I'm simply experiencing what most career women with inattentive husbands go through. ;-) We married late in life, so I knew we'd have our own friends and interests, but (I thought) we would both be giving up some "personal space" for "common ground" and companionability. I must have thought wrong! I've gained a huge load of work and grief for a small dose of companionship. And I think I'm just running out of energy to cope with the endless "crisis mode" we seem to be in. As the years pile up, it gets harder to believe that she can't manage her schedule well enough to live a semi-normal home life with her husband. So- rivkadr- thanks for the suggestion on meetup.com, looks interesting! I think I'm just gonna have to start taking care of my social needs on my own, and not worry about the grief that DW gives me for it. As I mentioned, there are some reasons for not making a major status change at this time, but at least I can have some fun while I see how things shake out. Thanks again!

Sorry to hear about your disappointment with your paint, especially after all the research that you put into it! I am agreeing with a couple of points people brought up, maybe it was in covering up the blue, maybe it is in your particular lighting and structure, maybe the mix is wrong. I have SM Ivoire throughout our main living area and it is just as ou described, creamy yellow with apricot undertones, not a hint of green. Somebody brought up the point that colors do vary room to room, house to house so maybe that is what you are doing here. In that case, not so much of a "mistake" on your part, but a lovely color that doesn't quite work for you. Similar to how a bright yellow sweater looks great on my friend, but washes me out. Good look in finding a new color!

'close to shopping' (there's a McDonalds on the corner) 'man cave' (thanks for the warning; is he tame at all?)

This really brought back memories of when I worked for one of those in-store photo outfits YEARS back. There were a number of issues but the annual company picnic was one that ticked me off. Had forgotten about it until now. Since I (well actually all of us) would have to work 6 days a week, Sunday was our only day off to wash clothes, do housework, pay bills, etc, and of course pack for the next week. So when they came up with the Sunday picnic I wasn't happy. We had a bunch of new people working there. I was there the longest at that point and it was less than a year! Then when the personnel manager came in and started chewing us out because the previous year none of the traveling photographers came to the picnic and that better not happen again, I said back the train up Mabel, this is enough. I spoke up and pointed out that none of us were here last year and not to blame us for what the other people did. Needless to say, she threw a temper tantrum and I was in her crosshairs. No problem. Then I decided to not attend. I said I want my day to myself. Most of the others were intimidated into going. I was glad I didn't. The dietary issues might be an interesting thing to play with if you wanted to. Pick a dietary need, low-carb, gluten-free, etc and ask what they're going to have for that need and when they say none, ask how much to deduct for not getting to eat, and of course maybe order in something special, well, it probably isn't worth it but these are options. A little ipecac could be an interesting contribution but I'm sure you don't care to "contribute" that! Seriously though, I think I would be sending that posting to the school board. I assume you're in the few who are non-union? I was in that position when I worked for a school district years and years ago. Oh how I remember "The Sunshine Club" and the United Way demands. And I remember getting the notes from the teachers, written in crayon with spelling and grammer at about a second grade level! I think you should have a sit down with the personnel director for the district. For them to be sending out information about one's financial status is a flagrant violation of data privacy. A good sneaky attorney can get you about $50k for that. We had experience with the local government on this situation. A couple of employees milked a lot of money with bogus claims but they settled. And a peace offering could be offering to, in lieu of the cash contribution, you offer to contribute for instance some cards? Go to the dollar store or something and pick up some birthday, anniversary, and sympathy cards for a few dollars and it'd save the Committee a lot at $5/card! Good luck!
