Introducing myself

Hello,

I have been reading this forum every day for ever so long. I'd like to join you.

a bit about me: I am in Vermont and on SSI. That makes it very hard to manage, but I do manage. I live within my income, never incurred one debt, and own no plastic.

My lifestyle is simple of necessity, I don't drive and walk a great deal, eat simply and cheaply.

I look forward to posting here and getting to know folks.

Welcome to the forum and coming out of lurkdom.

I too am retired, though not SS age yet. I live in the country and enjoy veggie and flower gardening...along with my 3 furbabies. I enjoy canning plenty of what I grow for myself and other loved ones.

Hello, Juanita! Why no responses here? Too bad. I love your post. I got into photography while taking pictures of my roses and daylilies and garden and now am doing bird photography. It is a lot harder than flowers but I love it. I took a photography class last year but it was a bit advanced for me at that time. Now I have a different camera, a Nikon, which I use for everything but birds. My Canon SX50 can't be beat for birding so I am sticking with that for now. I just may take the Photoshop class as I need to do better with it. Hope someone else sees this post and responds. Kathy near Sacramento

Hi there Frakielynnsie!! I will keep my mind open and remember to keep checking the site. In the meantime, will try and finish my trading page and see if I can figure it out as well as start some more seeds and cuttings to propagate for trade. I was a great trader and would send packed boxes when I had more prior to moving Unfortunately lost a lot in the move. So starting over and hard enough when you're doing it for yourself let alone when you are trying to finish a Memory Garden. So I have a few that I can list right now for some hens and chicks if you like Or we can do so at a later time. UPDATE: I'm now off prednisone and the asthma seems to be subsiding. I guess all the measures we've taken (steam-cleaning carpets, HEPA filter, allergen-neutralizing spray, washing walls, opening windows, etc.) must have reduced the cat dander to a level my body can handle. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and advice. At the same time I have to wonder why many people were so quick to insist on drastic solutions. (I should add that my husband agreed -- he was ready to rip out the carpets from day one.) To me it makes sense to tough it out for at least a couple of weeks, assuming there isn't a true health emergency. I suppose I have a reasonably high tolerance for living with low-level misery, as long as there's an end in sight. If things had taken a turn for the worse I would of course have taken appropriate action.

Here's my first Russian LE Legkaya Grust. It started off in a little solo cup so I'm proud of it. It's not quite so deep green in person. On the right is Tiny Wood Trail, recently arrived from Bloomlovers, top is Sinningia 'party dress' and left is Rob's Sailor Bill....but I really hacked it up yesterday so it's needs to fill in before anyone can see it haha

Hi seaturtle,

Welcome aboard - we hope that you like it here. I'm sure that you feel that you've got to know several of us by now, as you've been lurking for a while.

We hope that you'll post, sharing some of your experiences, from time to time: living frugally will probably provide you with some ideas to offer.

I imagine you've tried the "Kitchen Table" ... there's a lot of talk about general stuff, over there. Much more activity than here ... they'll dance you off of your feet!
