I wonder if we have discussed all the money saving ideas there are.....this forum seems to be on a sleep mode...anyone receiving? Just wondering if anyone checks in anymore...I know a few of us do. Hello hello...anyone there?

I check in periodically, but this is a quiet forum compared to many of them out there. Maybe people are too busy spending money to save it? :-)

Michele, Do NOT cut your older plants. You are correct that if you do, it will delay the process. They should certainly bloom next growing season if given enough sun (the more, the better)and adequate fertilizer (keep the phosphorus higher than the other numbers or at least higher than the nitrogen). Once a cutting is rooted, it will take anywhere from 1-3 years. Tony

Welcome :-) Fragant violet surviving in zone 5 ? Well, I only see odorata family (are they other fragant violets anyway ? let's forget parme)...and you'd better protect it a little bit during winter :-) If somenone can complet my newbie answer :-) Take care. Thierry.

Welcome! I think most of the older posters have either gotten into relationships/married or given up. We sure used to have some fun discussions and I miss it, too. I left because I got married, but, sadly, my DH died 5 years ago, so I'm single again. I check in every day and respond when someone posts, but as you can see, posts are few and far between. Feel free to start a discussion - I know several of the original posters still comment when someone posts a new thread.

Thanks for the welcome! I immediately went to check the soil pep when I read your comment. Luckily I didn't see any thing of what you describe, but I think I will screen it before making a big batch just in case. Thanks for the heads up! Also, the worm castings I am using is not what you see at the big box stores in the bag. This is literally 100% pure worm droppings with zero added compost or anything else. It's literally only a couple tablespoons per gallon. I'll attempt to post a picture of the bag from my phone. Therefore I'm still considering using peat in the mix. If anything, maybe I'll cut the compost ratio down to .5 making it a 3:1:1:.5 mixture. Will see.

I check in often but been busy with gardening and kids actiivites to spend any money...:(...Bought lots of seeds this year hoping that I'll get lots of seeds from them after they're done blooming. Should be able to save lots of moola that way!!! :)

I check every so often but not much going on here. Still trying to save money, especially now that I have a house payment.

I have a "house payment" as well ...

... (a four-letter word) called "rent".

Wondered a few years ago whether I should by a home, but wasn't sure how long I'd want to stay.

In 15 years - about $70,000. in rent, more or less.

$70,000?!!! Joyful, that's a lot of money for a rental. I guess that's one reason I bought. Got tired of giving my landlord all that money and not being able to do what I wanted with the house. I saw my old rental house in the paper today. They've put in central air and recarpted...now asking $50 more a month than I was paying.
