Money Saving Tips

My internet and phone company keeps advertising savings when they can bundle internet, phone and TV costs. They make these savings available only for "new" customers. I'm upset that we, as steady customers, don't get offered the same savings. Is anyone else getting a good deal combining services......maybe we can switch.

Talk to your local cable company. They can offer you Internet access, phone service, and lots o' cable channels. If you're not already their customer, they might do well for you. They're looking to expand in to the ISP and phone arenas and know that a low price always catches people's attention.

Thankyou,but my cable company IS my internetcompany. They are offering good deals to "new" customers, but not to existing.

One option could be to call Comcast and just tell them that their price increase is enough that you now want to get rid of them. That should be enough to get them to counter with some sort of promotion -- maybe your old rate continued, or another discount for another time commitment, or ... something. They may offer you more services at the higher price, but if that's not what you want, stick to your objective. You should get what you want.

AC circuits don't have positive and negative. You have grounded (neutral) and ungrounded wires. It's impossible to tell for sure, but what I think likely happened is you had was that you didn't have four wires connected together. I suspect one wire is the feed from the fusebox/breaker panel, it was tied to a wire running ot the light switch. Another wire was the return from that switch that connected to the one side of the lights (these are all the ungrounded wires), then you have the other side of the lights connected to the grounded (neutral) wire from the fusebox. A fourth wire goes to the receptacles. Here's what I'd suggest you do. (Obviously turning off the power at the fuse/breaker while manipulating things). Disconnect the four wires you've got bundled. With a meter or other tester find which one has power when they're disconnected (this is the one from the panel). If you have an ohmmeter you should be able to identify which of the other three go to the switch. They will have near zero resistance when the switch is on and practically infinite when it is off. Connect the remaining wire, the one you identified as the feed, and one of the switched wires together. Connect the other one to the new fixture (and use the old single wire to connect to the other side of the fixture).

Were it me, I'd ask the fabricator if honing will remove the bundle marks. If you've not seen the marks yourself you don't know how deep they are. They may not be able to give you an answer, and in fact no one might. Our fabricator only does honing and leathering on edges. They send the slabs out of state to have the surfaces honed or leathered. So whoever they send it to would give you the best answer, but it's doubtful they can as they've not seen the marks. I understand you are feeling desperate. Took us far too long to find our slabs. We had them sent away to be gently leathered. I was told the outcome varied and to be prepared for this. But if it had any damage I would not wish to have paid for 3 slabs, no matter how perfect, to find they could not remove the marks unless I were told without question they could. We did initially choose slabs that we were later told had been found to have imperfections and mild cracks invisible to our eyes - and thus the leathering process was iffy. Despite that to this day it was the most beautiful to me, I am glad we chose not to purchase it.

Ah. Couldn't tell from your post, since you didn't mention who it was.

Well, then, talk to your local phone company. Out here, Qwest promises to save you money by bundling with them rather than dealing with a telco/TV cable/ISP/cellular. I don't know if that's true (I have no need for a wireline phone and I don't watch enough TV to justify spending money on cable). But your local phone company might be an option.

Fishermen put a fly/worm and hook into the water to catch new fish.

The ones they caught yesterday - have been caught. Possibly fried and eaten.

If they make the enticing offers available to the current customers - they osemoney.

I wrote that last word as I did to make it a double four-letter word.

It's usual use is "lose money", of course.

But that construction isn't composed of more than one four-letter word.

And everyone knows that for a corporation, to "lose money" is worse than a single four-letter word.

If they allow their revenue to decrease (by offering current customers "good deals") their revenue reduces, which at least reduces, may even endanger their bottom line.

Unthinkable.
