Are Bath Mats / Bath Rugs 'out'? PB? RH
Comments (52)Okay, I've never liked anything that *looks like* bathroom or kitchen rugs. That doesn't mean I don't like a rug in the bathroom though - I just want something pretty and decorative. I also don't like the fact that many bathroom rugs, people step out of the shower/tub wet on the rugs and then they sit there damp. I use a long oriental type rug in front of the double vanity. Nothing un front of the tub or shower. What we do is use the bath mats (like a thick towel) and lay those over the side of the tub when finished. They dry out quickly and are laundered often. That said, I'm certainly not saying what is in or out of style or what someone should do, just the personal preference around our house LOL. tina...See MoreRubber backed rugs on hardwood flooring?
Comments (1)I think I read that rubber backed is a no no for hardwood floors as well, but there is supposed to be some sort of non slip pad you can put under rugs to keep them from sliding. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will respond. I need to find out too as we just installed red oak hardwood in our kitchen remodel, still in progress....See MoreBath rugs
Comments (11)Kaylie, I got frustrated with mats that don't wash and dry easily and replaced them in three bathrooms with these in cotton from LL Bean. They are great quality, generously sized, and wash and dry with towels (being only slightly heavier than a nice towel). My only caution would be if you have someone bathing in your house where the non-slip backing may be an issue....these do not have a rubberized or non-slip backing. I have tile floors in two bathrooms and no one has taken a header stepping out of the shower, but I'm still a little on the fence about buying them for my 89 yr old mothers new retirement apartment. I may take one with me, try it on her floor before ordering for that room....See MoreFlooret Modin -request for experiences with rug pads or rug backings
Comments (9)My padding was very pricey but it didn’t have a name brand. Was sold by the foot by my rug importer. I also have cheapies for rugs by the bed. The pricey ones feel more comfortable (spongy). Neither has stuck to wood or tile flooring but the cheapies do get brittle so after a while they are as slippery as if you had no padding. I think it’s money well spent to by the pricier ones but again, no damage to flooring with either. Curiously the spongy shelf lining that looks similar to rug padding has been a DISASTER. Over time it sticks to shelving and it’s a mess to remove. Walmart stuff. Won’t use that again!...See Moremikie_gw
