Daman, When was the bin started with 1lbs of worms? Starting with one pound of worms it can take months before the system is up to speed. The article that plumiebear posted is a great read about starting population vs system production. Another issue that I found with the worm factory design is that it does not really have great airflow through the trays. For the first 6 months I had my worm factory, I did not feel like the worms were thriving and the system seemed very wet all the time. In an effort to dry everything out a bit I pulled the trays out and rested them on the base rotated slightly so they do not sit inside the catch tray (see picture below). When I did that the worms have seemed much more active so I left it that way. One more tip for getting the worms to move up is to resist the urge to pull the working trays apart. When you do many of the worms dive back into the lower tray that were already working their way up. I was pulling my trays apart every day or two and then wondering why the worms wouldn't leave the tray I wanted to harvest. I still peak from time to time but I never pull the lowest two trays apart unless it is time to harvest. I think that is why there are so few worms left when I do. It sounds like you are off to a good start. The worms won't be rushed so we have to remember to just be patient or better yet get another pound (or five) of worms and really kick start your system. Perhaps your looking in the wrong direction....LOL Far too often when the exhaust fan fails to eliminate the steam ppl instantly think the fan is not big enough, but that may not be the problem at all. Nature abhors a vacuum therefore no matter how big the fan and duct system are it will not discharge air from the room unless there is a provision for an equal amount of air to enter the room. Typically the only provision for air to enter the room is the gap under the door and that may not be sufficient to your need. Try an experiment. Begin with the door closed in the normal manner and turn one both the fan and your showers. Once the steam begins to build up open the door slightly to allow a bit more air to enter around the door. If that seems to solve the problem then the permanent solution would be to cut a bit more off the bottom of the door or install a transfer air duct through the wall to an adjacent room.

The day that I found this house, I had looked at another house in the same neighborhood. The house was cluttered and seemed to be bursting at the seams. I remember opening the cabinet under the bathroom sink and it was crammed with stuff all the way up to the bottom of the sink. Then, we drove over to what would become my house. These people had been transferred and needed to sell fast, but knew that the market was crazy hot, so they were not willing to negotiate on price. When I looked around the house, it was not crowded with furniture and stuff. I opened the linen closet and it was practically bare. There were a couple of bath towels and some dish towels for the kitchen. There wasn't an extra sheet or blanket to be found. Most of the shelves were empty. It was the same with the kitchen pantry. The garage had a few suitcases and the minimum lawn equipment to maintain the place. Nothing else. The kitchen cabinets and drawers had just the bare essentials. Maybe 6 utensils in one drawer max. I knew when I was looking at it that they had packed everything up and put stuff into storage. The house was clean and orderly and showed great. Even knowing they were staging for sale and that it didn't really have more storage than the other place, I bought the house hook line and sinker. When the time comes, I will do the same.
