Cheapest trip to over half a dozen countries

How would you like a trip to the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, Poland, ... and South Africa ... with Australia thrown in, as well?

Best of all - the cost is the cheapest available - zero. Brought to you courtesy of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

If you have a computer with internet capability - which you obviously do! But you need one more thing - soundcard and speakers attached.

Canada's national broadcaster carries programs from the national radio of each of those countries daily.

Chief drawback - you must stay up most all night: it's only available between 1:05 - 6:00 a.m. daily.

But you can easily do that - you don't have to go to work tomorrow, so you can sleep when you like and get up when it suits you. Can you beat that?

All you have to do is go to www.cbc.ca and follow up "radio", then "overnight". Try www.cbc.ca/radio/overnight

A wealth of interesting material is carried.

Radio Germany has a monthly contest, first prize a short-wave radio and other prizes - last month's question was, "What famous leader said, 'Ich bin ein Berliner!' ('I am a Berliner!'), to which the answer, of course, was John F. Kennedy.

Also - the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) has a nation-wide phone-in program weekly on Sunday 4:05 - 6:00 p.m., Eastern time, dealing with a variety of interesting topics. There's a forum that goes at the same time, in case you lack soundcard and speakers. I think that you can look up the topics and comments on the forums carried in earlier weeks if you go to www.cbc.ca/radio/checkup or something like that. If you go to the radio portion of the website you can find it.

Have (a) good trip(s)!

These short-term visits to many countries are still available.

Daily.

The Dutch one, at 1:05 a.m., often takes you for a rather in-depth visit dealing with a variety of subjects in different countries.

Cost still the same - zero.

Does this, like many offers on the internet, sound too good to be true?

It's straight goods - just try it for yourself. There need be no commitment on your part, such as giving your name, address, phone number, etc.

Just listen.

No air tickets, airport taxes. No currency exchange fuss. No passport required. No sitting in airports waiting for flight delays. No security checks.

Best deal in town, I'd say.

While listening to a program rebroadcast via Canadian Broadcasting Corporation from the Czech Republic National Radio just now, I heard that it has been learned recently that a professor in a theological seminary was formerly working for the secret service. He is either being asked to resign, or fired, as morally ill equipped to continue in his position.

A wide variety of material broadcst nightly - especially interesting to nighthawks.

Enjoy, all.
