Hello Everyone, Mike, Im so sorry to see all of the damage to your beautiful trees. Im sure it was awful feeling like you had no control of the amount of snow building up on the trees and hearing all of the limbs breaking. That is a awful thing to hear... Last winter DH and I were outside knocking off the snow from the fronds of our palms. The heavy amounta of snow plays havoc onthe trees that still have leaves on them. Like someone else said, mother nature knows what she is doing when she sheds the leaves, this time the timing was off just a bit. Thinking of you and all of the others up north who are still without power. We didn't get as much rain as I expected, only .2, just seemed like alot inside the house with all the wind. Indiana had some minor damage, only power outrages from what I've heard this morning. But there was a line from the OK area up thru IL, into MI that headed east. We are still under a threat of severe weather from OK/AR thru MI today. Tomorrow it heads east for OH and east. Tom and Brooke, I seen last night that there were tornadoes in your neck of the woods. Hopefully not anywhere like OKC.

A friend of mine who the the author of the linked article told me last night that we officially got 7.5 inches of rain in the 90 minute period Monday in Coweta. That is probably an inch or so more than we got at my house. Probably the worst local flash flooding Coweta has ever had. Even on my little hill, it was an amazing thing to see that much water unable to get anywhere. Then when the large hail started falling into the standing water, it looked like a storm at sea. This link (hope it works) and the photo gallery there shows some of the flooding an hour or two after the event, for those that are familiar with Coweta. Probably not too interesting for others. I wish there was a picture of the flood waters pouring out of Coweta Creek into the Arkansas River a mile away, but the town was cut off from there until the water went down, so no access for pictures. Afterwards when I drove across the river bridge there were dozens of large trees washed into the Arkansas around the mouth of the creek, yet the river intself had little flow. Very unusual looking. awm Thank you so much for checking on me! I haven't been on much because we are in recovery mode...It was a rough night when Sandy hit. We are near where one of the breaches occurred on Fire Island so we got slammed with waves and water. The good news is we survived! We got power back last Monday (had to have house rewired due to corrosion from the saltwater that flooded our basement-we even had fish and baby shrimp down there), heat last Friday because we had to put in all new vents and blowers. This morning I got a new refrigerator! I almost cried when it came because we've been living out of a cooler on the back deck since Sandy. The good news is we have a roof over our heads and heat and electric which so many others don't have. I am very greatful. The bad news is we have about $100,000 worth of damage so it will be awhile before we are back to pre-storm living. I am very sad for my neighbors-of the 12 or so houses on our street, only 4 of us are able to stay in our homes right now. We do the best we can to help each other out-even if it is just a hot cup of coffee or a hot shower for our friends who are cleaning out their houses of most of their belongings, or for the workmen who are gutting the houses to begin rebuilding. It was a very scary night-we didn't evacuate-won't do that again.
