When I get home from work tonight I want to check the dates on mine. Not only did I find pennies everywhere I also started finding dimes. I was careful to keep them separate from my other money in my change purse; it finally got to be too much to carry there so I'm keeping those coins in a pretty tin that I bought at a yard sale the morning before Bob died. The most strange thing was this: When I was switching out my winter clothes for my summer clothes earlier this year I had carried about 20 items upstairs - they were on hangers in the basement closet. I laid them on my bed and went through them one by one so I could eliminate what didn't fit, I didn't like, etc. When I got about halfway through the stack there was a dime. It was laying on a sweater! OK, maybe I was holding the clothes up against me and the pressure kept it from dropping out. BUT - if that was the case how did it stay there while they were hanging in the closet downstairs? And I had already been finding dimes instead of pennies for a few weeks at that time. No doubt in my mind where it came from.

I don't buy as much fresh produce in one shopping trip because it would go bad before I could eat it. I am lucky I can walk to the grocery store when I run out of something or when I need more fresh produce. My neighbour cries the blues about not having food to eat or having nothing in the house to cook or no salad fixings so I often end up taking her over dinner or a big dinner salad and cookies and cake when I make it. She eats the food I give her then gets in her car to drive 4 blocks to buy cigarettes for her after dinner smoke. Kind of makes me upset that she would rather spend her money on smoking than food. She also cried about taking a big loan out to do landscaping that she doesn't need done. She has more money than I do so I don't know why I am feeding her. LOL I find it is cheaper to bake my own cookies than buy store bought unless they are on sale. One thing I have noticed with the gas prices being as high as they are my brother is not stopping by as much with a coffee for me from Tim Horton's. LOL He used to bring me a coffee everyday and his newspaper but now he does it only on weekends. I won't be buying flowers for my garden this year but will get tomato plants instead. My one brother did give me 4 pots of geraniums free for my front porch pots from his store. I use coupons too but our stores don't offer double coupons like they do in the US stores - we just get the face value taken off. There was a coupon though for a free Pledge product in last weekends booklet so I used that and also picked up a few other coupons from relatives that don't use them. I like the coupons for free cleaning products. LOL I also cancelled my newspaper because I have the internet and I can get the newspaper from my brother or from my neighobur down the street. My SIL a few blocks over always hands me the tv guide and my Saturday New York times puzzle from the weekend paper when I go by their house on my walk. LOL Walking by their house pays off in other ways too. They shop at Costco a lot and my SIL is always giving me toothpaste and rolls of toilet paper to carry home. My brother's favourite thing is to shop at Costco. LOL Anne

Hi Bill, Sorry about your back. My friends gave me a "Merry Christmas" hat on Christmas Eve ... that the high wind blew off of my head after Christmas Eve communion at church, as I approached my back door. Found it in the morning ... frozen in. Slipped on ice, chopped it free with shovel, took it to the giver's house ... who took a pic of it, with ice on the peak, while it sat on my head. Later in the day, going to a friend's house for Christmas supper, slipped on glare ice while retrieving the hat to show him, fell heavily. A couple of days later, felt twinges in back, it got quite hurtful for a time when I moved in certain ways. It took about two months for it get back to normal, and during that time I'd have had a hard time getting down to pick up money, whether a penny or something more, or other thing of value, on the ground ... but, as I'm reasonably (or unreasonably) stubborn, I'd have probably found a way! Anyway, the back's almost completely back to normal now ... and I don't think that it cost me any unretrieved pennies during the ordeal (well, not really an "ordeal", unless one chooses to more or less make a mountain out of a molehill). Found a couple of pennies on the ground in the last while. By the way - how many coin slots in pay phones do you check out, for coin taking their ease therein? I haven't found any in quite a while, but find some from time to time. Once, when a couple of charities were collecting at the exit from a chain grocery ... I found two coins, in two phones ... and they got them. Don't think that I'd ever found two coins in two phones before ... or since! Good wishes for keeping our eye out for pennies! And not only hanging on to yours ... but putting them to work wisely! ole joyful

We have had a Cal King for 20 years. We just bought new bedroom furniture and got a beautiful sleigh bed with dresser and night stands. The store we bought it from ordered the Cal King bed frame from the furniture company. We couldn't be more pleased. Not all manufacturers offer that size though.
