Just joined AAA in anticipation of our cross-country trip; then, along comes AARP w/ a similar "unbeatable" offer. Which is better??? chery-va

I think the discounts on hotels is the same usually....we have both memberships just in case one is better.

I switched to AARP, it was less costly...

If you are going on a cross-country trip, you may use AAA - you get tow-service with AAA - but you don't AARP.

AAA it's true. I love the map-Quest and other trip options. We got the Gold membership and it's paid off every year. AARP we also have, discount is the same, but they continue to send ads for a bunch of other stuff. Enjoy your trip!! Can't wait til it's our turn. ~J~

In the past year I had my car towed once and battery jump-started twice. I would say AAA is definitely worth it for me. I stay in a motel approximately ten nights a year, when I visit my mom 500 miles away. The AAA discount is the most offered where I stay.

I was with AAA until we got an RV. AAA didn't offer good service for us. Now we're with GoodSam.

I go between the two. Each gives a pretty good rate the first year, then the next year you get a renewal for a lot more, so I switch to the other one. Next year, same thing. We've done this 3 cycles now. I can't tell much of a difference--I think the AAA has more options.
