Comments (4)I've recently been doing some shopping (in New Jersey) in home and kitchen stores and kept my eyes open for your picnic basket and I asked a couple of people - but nobody knows what I was talking about! Sorry, Hannah. I bet the store manager or department manager would know who the supplier is if you ask....See MoreCan't seem to find appropriate group for this problem
Comments (18)I second the message above. File a complaint with the police then take him to small claims court. Sue him for the max, about 5 grand, (which should reimburse you for the cost of the plants, your time for work done in the garden, and the health risk of turning your garden into a toxic waste dump. If you have children or animals, I'd keep them away from that guy and the chemicals he's dumping. Also, 6'high stockade fencing comes in 8' lenghts, cost anywhere from $8.00 to $12.00 (keep an eye out for sales from your local lumberyard) a section and are very easy to install. You just dig a hole for the post, set the post in, pour 1/2 bag quick concrete, (dry) pour water over it to set the concrete up, let it dry, then just top with the soil. Then you just nail the fencing to the post. As an added saftey measure against his chemical dumping, I would dig a trench about 2'-3' deep and 2' wide along the fence line, fill it with quick set concrete too. This way if he does pour more herbicide there's a concrete barrier to protect your plants. I had a friend who had to go through this and the court was 100% on her side. She got reimbursed for all the above and the judge even threw in the cost of the fencing and concrete expenses incurred because she had to resort to this to protect her property and the health of herself and her family. She now has no problem with the neighbor and has turned the fence into a pretty focal point in the garden by decorating it with birdhouses and little flower pots. Really pretty. I hope this helps you. If you are in doubt talk to the police about what action you can take. I'm sure that they will tell you, just like they told my friend, to take him to court....See MorePaper - recurring theme but I can't seem to conquer it!
Comments (27)Thought I'd join in as paperwork has always been my downfall, but I devised a new system months ago that seems to be working well for me. First, a couple years ago I let go of the idea that I needed to save everything; I realized that in decades, I really never needed to compare old bills, policies, electric or gas usage, etc. except for one time and I was able to request a full accounting. That got rid of a ton. I shredded it all and put in the recycling bin. I also called all junk mail companies that I could and requested to be removed. All junk mail is disposed immediately into a single stream container in my kitchen and dumped into the cities container outside, unless it has personal info on it and then it is taken into my office and shredded as soon as it comes in. This year i bought a new student desk with matching 3 drawer cabinet placed next to it; the desk has a file drawer, and a top drawer that is slightly larger than a full sheet of paper into which I put ANYTHING I want to save/file/read later, etc. (except bills). When I clean each room, if there is a stray paper found, unless it is a bill, it gets tossed in that drawer. When the drawer starts filling up, I go through it and toss, file, etc. If a paper needs attention soon, I will place it in a tiny holder on the top of the chest. Almost nothing goes there; it almost all goes in the drawer. The desk also has a narrow drawer above the chair area that accomodates a laptop, and the back has an opening for cords. There is a cross cut shredder next to the desk. All bills go into a shallow box in the chest's top drawer where I keep check books, stamps, etc. I pay bills online, and after paying, write the date/amount, and put back in the box and shred last months statements. I never keep them any longer anymore. The other two drawers contain office supplies. The file drawer holds no billing statements (they are all shredded monthly and kept in the bill drawer) but will hold files with information like my current policies, contact info, investment reports, medical files, etc. For the first time in my adult life I don't have piles of paper all over the house, I know where everything is, and can find things quickly. Comments (4)Thank you everyone for all your support and encouragement. We definitely will be enjoying the new dining room for Thanksgiving--only we will be very cramped over the holidays with everyone stuck in the family room. :( I do think the green wall is what is throwing me off. It's more like the first picture. I'm pretty much reconciled to repainting the wall--once everything is in place and I can get some color advice. I was able to get a swatch at RH this evening of the goldenrod striped drape I pictured above and it actually looked nice against both the tan and bone colored walls. DH made it easier as he does not like the red--so better to sneak in color with pillows, rug, etc. The drapes are being discontinued and marked down about 65% per panel which will end up saving me about $1,000 on my drapery budget--and since the roman shades are more than I anticipated, this makes it all the more tempting. I just decided to go for it--as I told DH, if nothing else I could sell it on ebay or return it. One step at a time, I guess....See MoreKaren10125
