Shallow Exterior Door Backset

Our Amish cabinet maker friend doesn't usually make exterior doors but he agreed to make our double front door. The problem is that the astragal ended up wider than usual so we don't have enough room for a standard backset. Is there a good source for a 2" backset with door knobs and narrow back plates that would be a good style for a 125 year old house?

2" (and smaller) backsets are available but will be architectural grade and knobs may not be available and any of the trim available may not be a good tyle for your house. See the link below.

House of Antique Hardware has 1 3/4" back sets. You might call or write them to see if they have narrow backplates as well.

They also carry Grandeur door hardware that offers 2 3/8" backset option. Link below is an example. It's the one I used on the double door of my 136 year old house.
