Roof replacement/hail/insurance...curious question

We had a rare, very bad hail storm in May. While it didn't hurt our 2 year old roof (we had it checked), there are many homes in the neighborhood getting new roofs due to the storm. I also know the storm chaser have been all over this area knocking on doors about free estimates for a new roof. Many neighbors took the bait, but, even if they go with a reputable company, how does it work.....?

Question is, when a home owner who has a 10 or 15 year old roof, and it was damaged by hail, does the insurance company pay 100% for a new roof and labor when a claim is submitted? Or does the home owner only get a portion (depreciation from old roof) of what the new roof supplies cost because their roof is older?
