If the plants were carefully dug up so that there was minimal damage to the roots, I'd try replanting them in a temporary location or at least covering the roots in a soil/compost mixture that is kept damp with periodic watering, making sure there are no air pockets. When replanting, a little plant food should also help.
Damage to the finest roots will impair their recovery. Too much damage and they may not recover.
