'Safe' Concrete Etchers - Do they really work?

I have 3,000 sqr ft of indoor concrete to etch. Muriatic acid is out of the question for something like this. But I wonder how well the "safe" etchers really work. I was considering the Mason's Select etching material but its quite an investment for my project and I want to make sure it will work to get me the surface I need to apply H&C concrete stain.

Any thoughts on this product or similar ones would be greatly appreciated.
