Termite Pre-treatment Caused Pipe to Burst -Advice Needed

Today we had our regular pest control company come out to do a termite pre-treatment on our house. The guy knocked loose a pipe and caused a giant flood of water (outside, thankfully). The city was there within 15 minutes to turn off the water.

The plumber charged us $300 to replace the pipe. Who knows how much the water bill will be.

The "service manager" for the company came out and said "this is not our fault, we aren't paying any of that bill".

We paid for the pre-treatment via credit card and can stop payment but I'm wondering what advice y'all would give.

No advice here because I don't know if it was the bug man's fault or simple somthing waiting to be touched before falling to pieces.

When I had it done, they drilled. I would think they should be checking all utilities before doing that operation. Otherwise, yes, they'd be liable for damages as a result of being so negligent.

Not sure what you mean by knocking a pipe loose. If it fell apart so easily, no it's not his fault, It's just a maintenance issue.

These are two totally different types of scenarios.

Without any clarification, I can't offer any opinion. You need to be more specific in what the bug man did. If he just knocked into it and it let go because of a bad joint or badly corroded pipe then it's the homeowners responsibility.
