I had my roof replaced 10 years ago and the roofer installed the drip edge incorrectly: water flows directly on the fascia board instead of being directed away. Since then I have had to replace the fascia board in several areas where there was a joint. Because of the direct flow downward along the fascia, I have recently noticed that my front wood windows and trim are rotting.

Short of replacing the drip edge, would installing PT 1x2 under the drip edge assist in getting the water away from sheeting flowing on the windows? I would like to install gutters, but I am afraid that water would still flow behind the gutters onto the fascia board unless I corrected the dripedge to channel the water away from the fascia.

As a side question regarding gutters, would half round gutters be more suitable to a 1930's vernacular style house compared to the K style gutter?
