 o
zinc strips for roof moss controll???

I've installed zinc strips to control the moss/fungus growth on the shady parts of my roof but now I read a site that claimed the strips become ineffective fairly quickly. My roof seems to still be clean after 3 years. Anyone have experience on this loss of efficacy? Maybe one needs to scratch it up as maybe zinc oxide begins to stop the flow of zinc ions?
Anyone have experience on using copper strips? Are they better?
Finally, zinc strips are costly. Anyone have a lead on cheaper priced strips?

Some shingle mfgr's are puttin copper granules in with the granules of the shingles during the construction process. You might do better with copper, just dont mix it up with the existing zinc where they contact.
